May Rudolph Day

It' s the 25th of the month which means it's Rudolph Day again. Last month I didn't take part as events overtook me. This is the card I had made but not photographed so I'm using it for this month instead, and also taking it over to the Playground.
Whether I will get to play next month remains to be seen.

Roy's recovery seems to have slowed down. We are still waiting for him to be transferred for rehabilitation but it will not be to the local hospital unfortunately, but to a neurorehab unit which is even further away. I may be able to go by train though instead of always driving.  Yesterday was not a good day - he seemed to have taken a step backwards and was certainly not co-operating with the occupational therapist. He told me he'd switched off from her!  He seems to have a down on all the therapists, which is not helping! This morning I've just cancelled our next holiday as he is obviously not going to be fit to travel. I just hope that he will recover and that this is not going to be as good as it gets. I'm not having a good day either as I can't stop crying - think it has all just caught up with me and Fiona is not here either this weekend. She has got even more problems as her much loved elderly cat has kidney failure and I think she is going to have to have her put to sleep this weekend.

Must get my act together and think positively befoer visiting time this afternoon.

  3. My heart goes out to you Sue. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. A good cry is sometimes the best medicine. Easier to say but harder to do, is to try and stay poitive. Hopefully he will bond a bit better with the therapists at the new place. As for your card it's gorgeous. A sweet image and lovely design. Biggest of hugs, Carol S.xxxxx

  4. Your card is very cute. I have that holly paper too. It makes a good background.
I have just looked back through your posts. What a tough time you have had. I will pray for Ray and for you, and I really hope he makes steady progress in the days and weeks ahead. Stay strong. You have lots of friends in blogland rooting for you both. Hugs. Kate x

  5. This is such a pretty card...that little kitty brings a smile!

I am sorry things are not going well for Roy or for you. Where I live, some big chain type hotels offer free accommodation for people with a family member in hospital. Perhaps something like that could cut the commuting down.to a couple of times a week.

It sounds like a long journey ahead but you must try to have time just for you too. It is a daunting task to support someone through a long recovery...perhaps he will eventually be able to come home with in house help for you and physio etc coming to the house. My prayers are with you.

  6. Me again
Just remembered that when DH was in and out of hospital for three years, we did not realize the hospital had a social worker on staff to help patients access every sort of help they were entitled to. We did not realize that we could have had in house help for almost free.

  10. A lovely card Sue! So cute.

So sorry to hear that things have plateaued a bit in Roy's recover. I believe this is often the case before they get going again, and the rehab unit will be able to dedicate more time to his recovery. Still thinking of your here!

    Hugs

  13. Darling little kitty card. Crying is a good way to help you let out emotions you have stored inside. You need to cry and get it off your chest. It sounds like Roy is tired of therapy and probably just plain tired. I hope he can see it will help him and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only he can do the work but you can cheer him on. Maybe he is just having a bad day. I pray for him to lift his spirits and get back on track and for you to have strength to get through it with him. Stay strong. Sending hugs.

  15. Your Rudy card is superb, Sue! I'm glad we got to see it this month! I'm very sorry that things are in a slump. Sometimes it does a body good to just have a good cry before soldiering on again. It's too bad men don't do that, as a rule. Maybe with a good cry, Roy will be ready to start fresh with a new positive attitude. I am praying for both of you, my friend! Here's a warm and fuzzy hug to wrap yourself in!! xxoo Darnell
