The Male Room Vintage Challenge

Hello and welcome to a new challenge in The Male Room. This week the theme is "Vintage" and as always has to be for a male!  I wasn't really sure exactly what I was going to do, the only thing that was a definite was to use The Open Sea stamp set, and this is what I ended up with.

I stamped the ship with Soft Suede onto a circle of Very Vanilla ,sponged some Soft Sky around it and added a frame cut out of a snippet of  Crumb Cake card. The idea was that it should look like a porthole. Then I repeat stamped the background writing stamp onto Very Vanilla, stamped the map three times across the middle using Soft Sky and sponged Soft Suede around the edges. I stamped the anchor onto a scrap of crumb cake card,  fussy cut it out and punched a hole at the top to thread the linen thread through. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. As I have used some snippets I'm going to pay a visit to the Playground as I haven't been there for a while and it's time to see what mischief everyone is getting up to. If you have no idea what I'm talking about - why don't you go and take a look- always something fun going on.

Triple Time Swallowtail

After all the boiler fitting, replacement window fitting, washing machine and vacuum cleaner repairs I thought this week might start getting bback to normal. How wrong could I be? After all the hot weather yesterday it definitely changed. We had a torrentisal downpour yesterday evening with thunder and lightening, and I do mean torrential. The rain came down so hard that it was running down the road like a river and of course the drains couldn't cope. Result a flooded garage - the water was about an inch deep and very close to coming in the utility room door. It was just high enough to cause the freezer to blow all the electrics in the house! Fortunately a very nice lady at the Electricity emergency line talked me through getting it all back on again.  Now that it has all dried out I've turned the freezer back on and it seems to be working OK thank goodness. So no food lost!

Anyway to get back to card making I made this card a little while ag ofor a friend's birthday and as it has now passed I can show it here.

I used the gorgeous large swallowtail stamp and the triple time stamping technique. The colours are strawberry slush and early espresso.

The ribbon is cherry cobbler seam binding which blended in well as I didn't have any matching pink ribbon.

I added a bit of decoration to the inside as well with a butterfly from Papillon Potpourri and a sentiment from Bring on the Cake.

Shades of Grey!

The challenge this week at Less is More is shades of grey - fortunately not 50!

I had an idea in my head that I thought would be good but it wasn't on paper! Funny how that happens! So I came up with this instead- a design I've used before but flipped it this time . I think this would work quite well as a man's card.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate
Ink: Basic Grey
Stamp Sets: Oh, Hello, Bring on the Cake

Epic Day Washi Tape

I have seen quite a few cards in blogland made using the washi tape from the Epic Day bundle so I had to try one as well.

It has to be one of the quickest and easiest cards ever! Some random stamping with Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake using Confetti stamp set then three strips of washi tape. The sentiment is stamped onto the tape from Bring on the Cake set. It's a good idea to give it a quick blast with a heat gun as the ink takes a little while to dry on the tape.

Dynamic Duos - Black Tie

I have been playing with my blog design and have decided to go for a cleaner look! What do you think?

Then it was time for some  crafting. Dynamic Duo's challenge is Black Tie week and the colours are black and grey with a masculine dessert option.  Now black and grey said men's cards to me anyway.

I wasn't quite sure where I was going with this so I started off by stamping the white car  then a black car and then it all seemed to just fall into place!

Cardstock: basic Black, Whisper White, Crumb Cake
DSP: Neutrals block
Stamps: Need for Speed, Bring on the Cake
Ink: Whisper White, Basic Black
Other: White embossing powder

Dynamic Duos and another Sneak Peak!

This week it a "subtle" colourway at Dynamic Duos and they have chosen So Saffron and Certainl Celery.

Easy I thought with a card in my mind! But easier said than done as none of my ideas seemed to work IRL! Anyway with little time to spare this is what I ended up with.

I have used the one of the new bundles from the Spring/Summer catalogue which is out on 1st February.

Cardstock: Whisper White, So Saffron
Ink: So Saffron, Certainly Celery
Stamp sets: Secret Garden, Bring on the Cake
