More Cards In A Box

At card club last week I showed them how to make the Card in a Box. I cheated a bit and took the ones I was going to make all cut out ready so I only had to put them together. This is the first one, using Mixed Bunch and Flower Shop stamp sets, with the addition of a butterfly from Papillon Potpourri. and Label Love for the sentiment.

The second one is very similar, but just used Flower Shop for the flowers. The leaves for both  were cut using the owl builder punch.

The last one that night used non SU papers and an assortment of butterfliees from Papillon Potpourri and Best of Butterflies. The leaves were cut with Secret Garden framelits.

And here are all the ones I have made together except for the black and red one HERE, which has already been sent.

Right you can relax now - I don't intend making any more --- at least for a while!!

New Butterfly Challenge!

There's a new challenge in blogland called Butterfly Challenge which has been started by one of the Playground friends - Mrs A.The first challenge is nice and easy -your card must have at least one flower and one butterfly. You'd think being so easy I could have made a card when the challenge opened two weeks ago. Well not quite I did make it last week and it was also for the Dynamic Duos challenge to use yellow and black.

That challenge is long over and I am only just managing to rush  in the door before Mrs A's challenge closes.  I seemed to get a tad busy towards the end of last week!  Anyway my card is quite simple and not quite how it looked in my head!! I cut a mask with the oval framelits to make an oval aperture and then brayered Daffodil Delight in the oval. But it came out very pale and no matter how much ink I added couldn't seem to get it any brighter. Then I stamped the flower from Serene Silhouettes in black and the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri. I added some more yellow to the butterfly with the matching marker, some tiny jewels down it's body plus some more in the corners. I was going to add an acetate butterfly over the top but the ink didn't want to dry and the acetate wasn't heat resistant I discovered!!

I've just noticed I have a new follower as well - welcome Shirley.

Triple Time Swallowtail

After all the boiler fitting, replacement window fitting, washing machine and vacuum cleaner repairs I thought this week might start getting bback to normal. How wrong could I be? After all the hot weather yesterday it definitely changed. We had a torrentisal downpour yesterday evening with thunder and lightening, and I do mean torrential. The rain came down so hard that it was running down the road like a river and of course the drains couldn't cope. Result a flooded garage - the water was about an inch deep and very close to coming in the utility room door. It was just high enough to cause the freezer to blow all the electrics in the house! Fortunately a very nice lady at the Electricity emergency line talked me through getting it all back on again.  Now that it has all dried out I've turned the freezer back on and it seems to be working OK thank goodness. So no food lost!

Anyway to get back to card making I made this card a little while ag ofor a friend's birthday and as it has now passed I can show it here.

I used the gorgeous large swallowtail stamp and the triple time stamping technique. The colours are strawberry slush and early espresso.

The ribbon is cherry cobbler seam binding which blended in well as I didn't have any matching pink ribbon.

I added a bit of decoration to the inside as well with a butterfly from Papillon Potpourri and a sentiment from Bring on the Cake.

Swallowtail and Dynamic Duos.

It has been a few weeks since I played along at Dynamic Duos but this week seem to have found some time despite having had visitors The colours this week are Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango and I immediately thought of butterflies with these colours.

I have used the beautiful large Swallowtail stamp, stamped in black and clear embossed. That way there's no unintentional black specks! I sponged the colour on as I liked the effect better than colouring it with markers.
I decorated the inside too.

Recipe:

Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Tangering Tango and Very Vanilla
Stamp: Swallowtail, Papillon Potpourri
Ink: Black Stazon, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze
Other: Crochet trim, tangerine tango satin ribbon (retired), scallop trim border punch, scallop trim corner punch, clear embossing powder

Dynamic Duos - Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler

This week's challenge at Dynamic Duos is :
And here is what I made. I used a Pool Party base and matted some cherry cobbler card and pool party DSP down the centre.

The butterflies are mounted on a circle and scalloped circle and finished off with three tiny pearls. As I used a number of snippets I'm also taking this to Pixie's Playground. What I don't understand though is how my snippets box is getting fuller almost to overflowing even though I keep using them. Do they breed like rabbits?

Cardstock:    Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler coredinations, Whisper White
DSP:     Sycamore Street (retired)
Stamp set:     Papillon Potpourri
Ink:    Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party
Other:   Scalloped Border punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly punch, pearls, 13/4 scallop   circle, 13/8 circle punch
