New Rudolph Day

Hello and welcome to Rudolph Day! I'm delighted that Helen Nile has taken up the mantle now that Maureen has 'retired' so that the Rudolph Day challenge can continue.

My card this month is a Woodware stamp coloured with Copics and cut out with a scalloped die which I think is a Crealie one. Image and sentiment both on scraps of white card. I mounted it onto a scrap of dark blue card and embossed the card blank with the Stampin Up falling snow embossing folder.

House Mouse For Rudolph Day

I'm just managing to squeeze into the last Rudolph Day challenge by the skin of my teeth. Sadly Maureen has decided to close the blog due to health issues. Thank you Maureen for keeping it going for so long and all the best for your "challenge retirement".

I decided to use a House Mouse stamp that hasn't seen a lot of ink since I bought it.

The paper was a freebie from years ago but I thought it went well with the stamp. I edged it with some even older peel off borders. I'm on aa bit of a mission to use up some of my stash.

Papercuts for Rudolph Day

Can you believe it's the last Rudolph Day of 2023? Not sure where this year has gone. My cards this time are a little different for me.
I saw this pack of designs from Katy Sue advertised and I thought I would have a go at them. The first one I did was the HOHOHO one so it is a bit raggedy! A new blade in the craft knife helped with the others though. I had to wait for Amazon to send some as I can't buy blades locally only the knife! I've still got another four to make, but they will be for next year. If you've been wondering where I've been between last month's Rudolph Day and this one I was off on another cruise. This time to warmer climes even though it wasn't very sunny.

Father Christmas for Rudolph Day

Well here we are at the penultimate Rudolph day for 2023! Unbelievable!!! I have used a NBUS stamp which came free last year, I think, with a magazine.

It is a Raymond Briggs Father Christmas and quite a large stamp, I coloured him with Promarkers and drew the border round the edge. The paper is out of my stash and was originally in a Simon Says Stamp kit.

Rudolph Day - September

I bought this stamp last year but hadn't used it. All the cards I had seen using it were so pretty I decided to show it some love and ink. The first six attempts went in the bin! I was using markers to colour the stamp but it either didn't stamp properly or was too dark. Spritzing it with water was also a disaster. Eventually I turned to Youtube for some hints.

So this one was inked with Distress Inks then some painting added on top. I used some Hot Press Watercolour paper which is why it is creamy. I wasn't convinced that the stamp was stamping properly so I made a second card using just one colour.

Brown didn't seem very Christmassy so I added a liberal amount of gold stickles and a gold mat. I've since watched another video so I'll have another try with it before I decide that Brushstroke stamps are not for me!

Rudolph Day August 2023

Only three more Rudolph Days to go!!!!! Time to get a bit of a move on with the cards!

I used another of the stamps from the Paper Artsy set, One I hadn't used before.  Instead of using a mat I drew the borders using the same red Promarker that I had used to colour his hat. I might make some more of these as it was fairly quick to do.

Rudolph Day - June 2023

I recently treated myself to some dies from Gummiapan, and rather than let them languish on my desk I decided to use them for this month's Ruolph Day card.
That has to be some sort of record for me!

I used a mini slimline card, bought after receiving one from Miss Di last Christmas!  The two reindeer were cut fom a small snippet of white card and coloured with Promarkers, The background paper is also a snippet from a few years ago,The reindeer were adhered using foam pads, which were a bit fiddly as the deer are so small.

Rudolph Day - May 2023

A very last minute entry from me this month for Rudolph Day! We only got back on Friday from a two week cruise round the Baltic. Since then I seem to have been up to my eyes in all sorts. Fortunately I had a card made sometime ago.

I do like these selfie stamps! It is coloured with Copics and mounted on an embossed card blank and a strip of silver glitter ribbon added.

Rudolph Day - April

As you can see I am still using up old stash! Unfortunately the pile never seems to get any less! In fact I'm sure it grows overnight.

This month for Rudolph Day I have used up some stickers, another aperture card and some paper from,  I think, an old Making Cards magazine. There's not much else I can say about it.

Rudolph Day March

I'm still using some of the very old decoupage I have in my stash. I found this small Christmas rose quite difficult to use. Eventually I found some Christmassy paper that worked with it.

I then used one of the aperture cards I have also had in my stash for ages, Some red ribbon and a sentiment completed the card.

Rudolph Day February

I made this card for Rudolph Day earlier in the month as I knew I was going to be busy. Then I nearly forgot to do the post!

I have been going through some of my very old stash and came acoss this decoupage and the aperture cards. I think the decoupage was from Kanban. The wo together with some gold ribbon and a gold stampes sentiment finished it off.

Rudolph Day January 2023

Welcome to the first Rudolph Day of 2023! It's the place to join in if you want to get ahead with your Christmas cards. I have had this Memory Box die sitting on my desk for months - unused!  The paper was also sitting there waiting to be put away - there's less of it to go away now!

I cut the die out twice, once in red and once in green. To be honest I didn't really like either of them, but decided to  go with red, with just a bit of green for the sentiment panel. Since photographing it I have liberally applied red Wink of Stella to the leaves to brighten it up a bit.

I made a second card with the paper and just a strip of red card for the sentiment. I have to confess I like this one better. I think the die might well end up in my 'for sale' box.

Rudolph Day - November

Well here we are at the last Rudolph Day of the year. I can't believe how fast it has come round. I'm also happy to say that although I still have some Christmas cards to blog,I have made enough for this year!

Back in October when I guest designed for Darnell at NBUS I used some freebie stamps which featured the Twelve Days of Christmas. Here are some more from the set.

All were coloured with Copics.

Rudolph Day -October

Can you believe that there is just one more Rudolph Day this year? I can't! So if you haven't made a start on your Christmas cards you'd better get a wiggle on!

This was made on my Ipad as a bit of an experiment! I probably won't be making too many like that although it would be quite good for batchmaking.

Rudolph Day - September 2022

Well normal service is not yet resumed as still testing positive and feel very lightheaded. However I did manage to make a card yesterday for the Rudolph Day challenge, and really should have chosen to do something less fiddly!

The die was another magazine freebie from quite a while ago. Originally I had intended embedding the holly leaves as well, but by the time I'd done the candles and berries I was beginning to lose enthusiasm, and actually I quite like it as it is. I added the peel off stars and sentiment as it looked a bit bare at the bottom.

Rudolph Day - August

Well it's three weeks since I last blogged! My excuse is that during the very hot days my craft room was unbearable even with a fan. I was also in the middle of a watercolour painting that  had to be put on hold as the paint was drying too quickly, so I still have that to finish off. But I have made a Rudolph card!

I cut the red mat out with a die that looks like s fringed blanket (NBUS), but as it is an American size it was too long for our DL cards, so I just chopped the ends off. The Noel stamp is from Woodware and I thought it was time it had another airing and I fancied doing some paper piecing. The Christmas paper with little penguins on is out of my stash. Added some bling with pale blue rhinestones to tie in with the paper.

July Rudolph Day

It's Rudolph Day again- well actually it was yesterday, but we have until 31st to enter! I was recently looking through some old cardmaking magazines and saw an idea for using designer papers which I thought was a great way of using some up.

So I raided my stash of Christmas paper and made one. The black borders were some very old stick on ribbons and the sentiment was cut from black glitter paper.
Then I made another.

The sentiment  used the same die  and the borders were from the same set (ex QVC, I think).
And then I made a third while I was on a bit of a roll.

Rudolph Day June

Another quick and easy card for Rudolph Day! I have to admit I'm really liking these Masterpieces Made Simple from Penny Black.

I matted this one onto white and then gold before adding to a premade card blank. The sentiment is a peel off from many, many years ago!

Rudolph Day - May 2022

Well here we again- Rudolph Day time! Actually I’m a bit late this month. I had to tidy and clean all the pastel dust up after doing a painting. The dust gets everywhere so there is no way I can do any cardmaking or scrapbooking till I’ve got rid of it all.

My card this month uses a NBUS die from Charlie and Paulchen. I have to blame Chrissie Stokes for introducing me to this company as she has been using quite a lot of their dies recently. I just thought I’d have a quick look at their site and of course one or two of their dies just happened to jump into my basket! I decide a fairly simple design would work well and used some old SU plaid paper for the mat and to cut the trees.
