Make My Monday - Glitter

It's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday. These Mondays seem to come round very fast! This week the challenge is to use glitter - easy peasy at this time of year!

I decided to use my new Ornamental Pine set. I inked up the stem and cones with Chocolate chip amd the needles with Versamark, then heat embossed the needles with some WOW embossing powder in Frosted Fir, which is really sparkly IRL. I added some Dazzling Details to the cones as well. In my snippets box I had the perfect piece of brown glitter paper which I think I bought at The Crafty Cow, which sadly has been closed for a long time now.

Do go and visit the rest of the DT to see what they have made.

Make My Monday - Children or Babies.

The challenge this week at make My Monday is to make a children or baby card. I don't make many of these as I only have two grandsons, so apart from their cards I rarely need any more. However the challenge has tied in nicely with a friend who is having a baby sometime this month! And unusually has chosen not to know whether it is a boy or a girl. Just to be on the safe side I made one of each.

They both use retired SU supplies. I was having to rummage around to find something to make a new baby card and found this sweet little pram stamp that had never been used. I decided to paper piece it instead of colouring it. So lots of snippets used for the prams and white card, and even the crochet ribbon was a leftover piece, which mens I can head over to the Playground again. No supplies list this time as no current products used.

The Male Room - Stars

Welcome to a new challenge at The Male Room where this week the theme is Stars.  I originally coloured these sneakers for the MMM challenge of sport but didn't use them. However, the stars paper from Simon says Stamp coordinated perfectly with them.

I embossed the gold stars using a stencil from SSS which came in the same kit as the paperusing some Dreamweaver embossing paste that was lurking in the back of the cupboard. The star that I have used as a mat was cut using the Stars framelits from SU and the sentiment is also an SU stamp from one of the new Project Life stamp sets. Now do pop over to the challenge blog to see some more fantastic inspiration from the DT and why not let us see what you come up with - just remember it must be for a male!

My 1st Art Journal Page

After commenting on Sarn's lovely page here she sent me an email which shamed  encouraged me
to make a start!

Creating it was not without some hiccups! After creating a background I got some stamps out and inked them up with black archival, the pad slipped out of my hand and stupidly I tried to catch it and ended up with a perfect ink pad mark on my top (which was pale blue) - fortunately a very old one which has now been relegated to the  "decorating clothes" cupboard. So the background now had badly stamped images so went back to the gesso and paints. This time more succesful but would have been better if I'd had a bit more patience and let it dry properly, before stamping. Then I got the gilding flakes out. I really want to do a canvas similar to this so it was a way of seeing whether the end result was vaguely like I envisaged.  I'd forgotten how messy gilding flakes and flitterglu were! But they did look like i'd imagined so a good result. But as I craft upstairs the nearest supply of water for the fliterglu'd stamps etc is the bathroom - so then that had to be cleaned as well!
Anyway Sarn - the book is no longer pristine - and despite the hiccups along the way I enjoyed playing! Stamps used are Clarity, Stampin' Up! and Kanban. The background, acrylic paint, distress stains and Cosmic Shimmer sprays.

The Male Room - Make Pink Masculine!!

We have a new challenge at The Male Room and boy is it a challenge!! "Make pink masculine"!!! I have to admit I really, really struggled with this and in the end decided on just a small amount of pink.

I coloured the seaweed stamp with my markers and used Melon Mamb, Pink Pirouette, and Strawberry Slush. I'm afraid my photo seems to look more orane than pink! I inked the fish with both gold and silver encore ink pads - the idea was to make it shimmery like fish scales, but it really didn't photo well either! The piece of silver mesh was lyin around on my desk, after it had fallen out of my box of oddments - thought it could symbolise a fishing net, and Pool Party card to represent the sea.

Make My Monday - Butterflies

Welcome to another Monday which means it's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday. We certainly had some lovely entries last week. This week the theme is Butterflies - how easy is that? Everyone likes btterflies don't they?
I decided to use the beautiful Swallowtail stamp. It's a big stamp but still quite versatile. I heat embossed it with white embossing powder then sponged colours over it and cut it out. The colours I chose went perfectly with the now retired Watercolour Wonder paper. A frame cut out of Crisp Canteloupe completed my card. To give it dimension I left one wing free.
