Twins Birthday Cards

Gosh it’s a long time since I posted anything. Did you miss me? I haven’t done much crafting in the last couple of weeks as I had cataract surgery on both eyes last week. Distance vision is now better than it was with my glasses. The downside is I need reading glasses to read my phone!

Anyway onto some cards which I made some time ago. You may remember from last year that there are twin boys living next door and they recently had their fourth birthday. As I’m writing this they are out in the garden, playing with what seems to be new toys - bicycles with bells!

As they are not identical twins I always make the same card but different for them. This year I used the Lawn Fawn double slider die set with suitable traffic!

A red one and a blue one!

Apparently they were delighted with them! Lots of snippets used  so I’m sharing in the Playground.

Rudolph Day - May

I'm not sure where the month has gone but it's time for Rudolph Day again! Normally I have a card made well in advance but not this month!  I  have used a NBUS Woodware stamp that I won in the mega Christmas Draw at Pixies Crafty Playground. Thank you Di.

I stamped the image in  black and heat embossed it on  watercolour card as I have a lot of offcuts lying around from my painting classes. I coloured it with Derwent Graphitint watercolours, then added a slimline scalloped frame from Simon Says Stamp ( another snippet and NBUS) so I'm also sharing this at Pixies Playground and the NBUS challenge.

Paper Pieced Pants!

One of the blogs I follow frequently has paper pieced images onit and I always wonder hy I don't do more of it. Well this month the CAS Mix Up challenge is asking for paper piecing so I had to join in.

I had a rummage for a suitable stamp and found this old one from Little Claire Designs and thought it might make a good male card.

The scalloped rectangle is a Julie Hickey die. The papers are from my large stash of snippets so I'm also sharing at Pixie's Playground.

Snippets challenge

Just popping in quickly with my snippets card for Miss Di's Christmas challenge at the Playground. Having cut out out four different colours of card with the SSS geometric builder die for my last card I had lots and lots of different coloured shapes to use up.

This time I made a DL card and mounted the shapes in a red frame. Again no sentiment till I decide who or what to use it for.. I think I like this one best.

All that's left is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year, I'll be back on 1st January with the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges.

Fall

My goodness . two posts from me in one day - whatever next!

I'm delighted to have been asked to be a GDT on Lasting Memories. My first make is for challenge #517 Fall.

I used a photo from our trip to the States back in 2010. The papers are all out of my scraps drawer and the leaves were cut from scraps of card on my Cameo. You might be able to read the journalling if you enlarge the picture. And as it is all snippets I'm sharing this at the Playground - socially distancing of course!

Quechee Gorge

There's been no cardmaking here for a couple of weeks as I was determined that my North America scrapbook would not take five years like the Australia one did.  I'm delighted to say I have finished it but I still have a few layouts to share with you over the next few weeks.

It's so long since we were actually there that I had to Google the name of this place. All I could remember was that it started with Q! As all the papers I have used were scraps I'm going to share this at the Playground. I haven't been there in quite a while.

Ballet Shoes

Ballet Shoes was one of my favourite books when I was a girl, even though I didn't dance.I remember going once to a dancing lesson but according to my parents I was more like a baby elephant! I'm still not a dancer! But when I saw The Library Challenge had it as their current challenge, I had to enter.

The dancer is from Sheepski Designs, coloured with Copics and the trellis work die from a recent Diecutting Essentials.

I'm also entering this at Make My Monday, even though I've just left the DT to spend more time travelling. Ha Ha all travelling on hold at the moment, and as I've used snippets for the trellis and dancer I'm off to the Playground to see what is going on behind the bike sheds.

Do It Yourself!

There was recently a give away with a magazine of some dies to make a pop up box with tools for the male version. Perfect for this fortnight's challenge at Cardz for Guyz which is DIY.
I sort of followed the instructions to make the card with the box inside.
This is the front using some wood style paper that was from SU an age ago.

And this is the inside with the tools on acetate to pop up.

I have to say that this has been one of the fiddliest and most tim-consuming card I've made in a very long time. I doubt that I'll be making another any time soon! On the plus side it did use up some snippets, so I can take it over to the Playground.

Thank you!

The lovely Darnell has taken the fantastic initiative of organising a blog hop to thank Di who recently celebrated her SEVENTH anniversary as Headmistress of Pixie's Playground, having taken over the beginning of 2012 from the lovely Jules! That's an enormous accomplishment! Not only that, but in addition to the linky for each challenge, Di also offers a generous prize out-of-pocket!

I have managed to produce a card - in between sneezes, using a die that I won in the Playground.

Not a very good photo I'm afraid. The light is not very good as it is currently snowing again. It wasn't much fun having to go out first thing this morning in it either, but had no choice as Roy had a hospital appointment to see about cataract surgery, and didn't want to put it off. The main roads were OK but our little close wasn't!

Balloon birthday

I made this card a little while ago for my grandson's birthday in November. Where did those eleven years go - it seems no time at all since he was a baby.
Lots of snippets used here, not just the balloon papers but also the card for the balloons behind the paper.
It has made a nice change to be blogging something other than a Christmas card!  Im off to join in the fun at the Playground - I believe Parsnip is dishing out mulled wine!

Sunny Summer days

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is Sunny Summer Days! There's not much sign of sun here today (Tuesday) though, very grey but also very warm and humid. Not my favourite type of weather. But at least my card is sunny!
I used a sunburst die from SU which has sat unused in my stash since I bought it. The stamps are from two Simon Says Stamp sets, the paper from my snippets box. Make sure you check out the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team has made.I'm entering this into the Playground as well.

Father's Day at Cards for Guyz

We're coming up to Father's Day here in the UK and that is our current challenge at Cardz for Guyz.
I don't often make a card for it unless it is a DT card as I lost my Dad fourteen years ago.
However I made this one with Roy in mind, hence the owl, as they are one of the many things he has collected over the years. I'll see if his daughter wants to use it!

The owl and background paper is from a Making Cards CD, and the sentiment was created in Craft Artist. The pieces of card are all snippets, although the pile never seems to get any smaller! I fussy cut the owl out and glossy accented his eyes. Make sure to check out the rest of the DT's work.
I'm also going to take this across to the Playground

Two of a Kind!

My neighbour's twins are about to have their first birthday, so I decided to make them a card each, the same but different!

I used the colours from the current Colour Throwdown challenge. All the stamps and dies are SU apart from the names, which I stamped very carefully using a Concord and 9th alphabet. The strings were handdrawn to connect to the names. I'm also having a trip to the Playground as my balloons and numbers were all snippets, and it's been far too long since I played there.

A Great Weekend!!

Last weekend I travelled down to Swindon for the Happy Little Stampers Craft Retreat, and what a great time I had with like minded people. Lots of crafting, good food, and laughter. Thank you Kylie for arranging it and being a fabulous teacher! This is the card I made at home for a challenge, which I won!
I will post more of the cards made during the Retreat in the next  few days. Going to head over to the Playground with this one and to the Penny Black Saturday challenge, and Rudolph Day extra!

A Little Octopus!

Those of you who read my blog on a regular basis will know that I am involved with the Octopus For a Preemie UK charity, (see the sidebar and HERE ) so when I sat his cute Lawn Fawn stamp I couldn't resist!

I cut out a stitched rectangle square from SU then  stamped him in black and clear embossed him. I  masked him off and stamped the bubbles in Versamark and embossed them in white. I sponged some Distress Oxides ink over the top. I coloured the little octopus with a pink Copic. The white and blue mats are both snippets so I'm off to the Playground to see what mischief everyone is up to.

Tiny fingers and toes

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Cardz for Guyz. This time  we are looking for Tiny Fingers. And Toes. But do remember it is for a male card!

Recently my neighbours had twin boys and I made this card for them. I had no stamps that mentioned twins so I went with the sentiment from a SU set instead. The little suits are also a SU stamp and die set, now retired. Everything except the card base was snippets so I'm also popping over to the Playground. I've been MIA over there for a while.

April Rudolph Day

I thought I hadn't managed to join in with last month's Rudolph Day (but I had ) so I compensated by making two this month! The first one was really really easy! I had kept a triangular shaped card we received at Christmas and used it as a template. I've got some Kanban card from a Christmas kit bought a long time ago from QVC and thought this might be a good way of using it up. It is just a triangle shape and two score lines with the bottom shaped so it stands. I stamped a greeting and embossed it in gold onto a snippet of green card and added it to the front.

My second card is also using up some old stash. This time it is from a Papermania pad that I thnk was in a goody bag. The paper is actually a pale blue but it was a bit gloomy when I took the photo and the flash has washed out the colour. I added some stickles to his hat and the ribbon is from my stash as well.

I'm going to pop over to the Playground as well as it's a while since I've been there.
Edited to add: Thanks for the hint Carol I'm also entering this at Winter Wonderland.

Rudolph Day - March

I'm just popping in at the very last minute with my Rudolph Day card. I've had it made for a couple of days but just not found the time to blog it.

I used the SU Sparkly Seasons stamp set and dies. When this set came out I wasn't very keen then someone gave me a card using it and I wished I'd bought it. Luckily I just found one on that well known auction site that had never been used. It's just a shame that the die set doesn't include one for the snowglobe base. I mounted it onto a snippet of Christmas paper. The red card and the white I stamped on all came out of the snippets box as well. So a trip to the Playground is called for as well.

Rudolph Day - January

Well it's time to start preparing for Christmas! Yes it's the first Rudolph day of 2017. and Scrappymo had some lovely prizes.
I have used a die that was a freebie on a magazine before hristmas and I just never got round to using it. it also came with the embossing folder to frame it. So a card for Rudolph Day, two NBUS items for Darnell's NBUS challenge and black and gold snippets for Miss Di at the Playground.

Up, Up and Away at Cardz 4 Guyz!

At Cardz 4 Guyz we are back after all the festivities with a new challenge. Joan has chosen the theme Up.up and away to start us off.

I chose to use these cute kites from Simon Says Stamp.I lengthened one of the tails to join onto the birthday wishes stamp, with hindsight I should have joined them both up! The background is a snippet of card from a play with brushos. The kites and clouds were also snippets of white. So I will be popping over to the Playground with this just to make sure Parsnip doesn't still have a hangover!
