Butterfly Anniversary

At the card club I go to one of the ladies brought in a lot of stuff she wanted to get rid of. Among it were some rhinestone embellishments that took my eye, including this butterfly.

In my box of snippets and bits and pieces I found the white diecut and the turquoise embossed card. So I put them all together with some ribbon and a peel off and had an anniversary card for my son and DIL later this month.

Cars at Cardz 4 Guyz

Gosh this week seems to have flown past! It's time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz, and this week it is Cars. Hopefully it will prove more popular than last weeks!
I dug out some old Creative Expressions stamps that have been waiting to see ink!  They must have been in my stash for three or four years! I also dug out a tent card blank that came from QVC. I've only got a few of these left, and they are all cream, which is a colour I don't usually use, but managed to find paper that had a creamy background to use from my stash as well.

I stamped the car in black archival and clear embossed it, then coloured it with Copics. Then I made a mask and inked the background with DI Antique linen and Pumice Stone to tone it in with the card.some linen thread and wooden candy added the finishing touches.

The fold shows up better in this view.

Snowballs for Cardz 4 Guyz

It took me a while to decide what to make for this week's theme of Balls at Cardz 4 Guyz .  I didn't want to go down the sporty route of footballs, golf balls etc. Then as I'm slowly getting into Christmas card mode I thought if snowballs. Of course having decided that this was what I was going to do I had nothing suitable, so went searching for a suitable digistamp and found two at Bugaboo.

I embossed the base card with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder then brushed some Soft Sky ink gently over the top to add a bit of colour. The image was coloured with Copics and some texture added to the snowballs with a fluffy stuff type of pen, then a bit of glitter as well.

For  for my second card I used my new distressed collage die for the background (thanks to Darnell for enabling me!) as I thought the circles could represent snowballs. Again I used Copics to colour the image and mounted it onto some green holographic card. The sentiments on both were from my stash from an old Kanban decoupage kit.

Peacock Colours for LIM

A couple of weeks ago the challenge at  Less is More was Exotic and I set out to make a card for it using this hummingbird stamp from the SU set Picture Perfect. The card never got made because I didn't like any of the ink combinations I used as they all ended up looking muddy! So this week I decided to try again as the recipe is to use Peacock colours which I thought suitable for the hummingbird. This time I was much happier with the finishd image .

I fussy cut the bird out and stuck it to a textured card blank, then added part of a die cut which I colored with some new Sharpie pens I got yesterday in W H Smith as they had them on offer. I really don't need any more pens (sigh!) The sentiment is a peel off colored with the Sharpies.

Cardz 4 Guyz

I am delighted to say that I am now a member of the Cardz 4 Guyz design team, and this is my first design team card for them. The challenge has been set by Caz and is "Congratulations" I put my thinking cap on and decided to go with passing the driving test.

I drew a large L on a piece of white card then tore it in half. The background and bottom sentiment was made  from a retired SU set Rev up the Fun, using the tire track stamp and one of the sentiments. The congrats stamp is anothe SU stamp from a card kit.I put a panel of grey card behind the L plate to make it stand out a bit more. Please pop over and see what the rest of the DT have done and why not join in as well. Just remember it must be a masculine card. I'm also entering it into the Playground as snippets were used.

LIM -Use a Sticker

I think like most of us I bought lots of stickers and peel offs when I first started making cards. Nowadays they are very rarely used, but this week the challenge at Less is More is to use them, or at least one!
This is the card I made using a very small snowman and Christmas tree. The background is a piece of a Brusho experiment and the snowy ground is made with some white glitter tape that I cut into a hilly shape. I added some liquid pearl dots for the falling snow and a dark blue frame. The sentiment is of course another peel off. Then I thought I'd make some more as I had all the stickers out.

This one is very simple a glittery snowflake on a snippet of embossed pale blue card that was lurking in my scraps box.

Fast and Flighty!!

Cardz4 Guyz are asking for cards with a theme using the letter F.  Fish seemed to be the favourite option of the design team and I have to say that was the first thing I thought of.
Then I remembered the SU stamp set Need For Speed that I bought for the plane to make a card for my son who is in the RAF. It was time to get it inked up again.

I found some cloudy background paper from a 6 x6 pad, no idea what make it is, and a curly sentiment banner from my stash, and mounted that on a snippet of dark grey card. I stamped and coloured 3 planes and fussy cut them and mounted them with foam squares.  I'm taking this over to the Playground as well, need to see if Miss has got the paddling pool out!

NBUS cat!

I had seen this cat stamp in blogland and loved it so found myself one on that well known auction site. Then it sat on my desk uninked for quite a while! Darnell is running her NBUS challenge again so it was the perfect opportunity for it to get inked. Or so I thought! Even with the Misti and repeated  stamping I couldn't get a decent image, the cat's middle just wouldn't stamp.  Eventually I abandoned the Misti and went back to a clear block and managed to get a reasonable image, or at least one I could go with.

Then I sponged distress inks around the cat, a sentiment from Stampin' Up, coloured the flowers, added some WoS to them and some ribbon. Job done, but not sure I'll be using the stamp any time soon!

Furry Friends!

Furry friends is the theme this week at Cardz 4 Guyz so it was the perfect excuse to use my NBUS stamp from SU - Baby Bear. It is a three part stamp which gives that lovely furry look to him.

I stamped him in Sahara Sand, Tip Top taupe and Soft Suede. The fancy mat is an old Spellbinders die and the backing paper is from Little Claire. The bow ia a ready made one that I found in my ribbon box, and I added some stars for extra interest. I made it into a new baby card as my neighbour's daughter is expecting her first baby soon. I already have a baby girl card in my stash so added a baby boy one so that I am ready when baby arrives!

I was delighted to see that I had been picked as one of the Top 3 last week! Thanks ladies!

Rudolph Day August 2016

I promised to show you how I had used the rejected bits from my LIM card here when Rudolph Day came around. So here it is.

I punched out the individual letters using a postage stamp punch which was just the right size, then mounted them on some gold mirri card. I embossed the card base with the SU Softly Falling embossing folder.
