Pumpkins

I can't believe that we have got to the fourth week of my GDT spot at Lasting Memories. It really has gone quickly. This week the challenge is called Pumpkin Spice. We want to see pumpkins of course and some glitter to represent the spice. It's on the pumpkins although it doesn't show up.

When we were on our trip there were pumpkins everywhere, and this garden centre was no exception. I looked really pretty with all the pumkins, scarecrows and chrysanthemums.  And the hot apple cider donuts were delicious!

Christmas Birds

When Penny Black produced the stamp Ode to Christmas I thought it was lovely and had to have it. However I've only used it a couple of times as I found it just very difficult to get a good image.

But I decided to try again for the CAS Christmas Challenge that is asking for Christmas birds. I coloured the stamp with SU markers using my Misti. I'm still not very happy with it and suspect that it won't get used again.

Fright night

This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is to have a moon somewhere on your layout, either in the photo or on the paper.

I had no photos with a moon that were suitable to scrap so I went with Halloween and some atmospheric paper. The paper, stickers and title all came from Sunshine Scrapbooking.

Chinese Lanterns

I am pleased to say that my back is feeling much better after a visit to the chiropractor this morning, not totally back to normal but at least I’m not in excruciating pain!

I’m still steering clear of the crafting table though for the time being. I need to be able to participate in the online painting class I’m doing on Friday afternoons.

I made this card a while ago but the colours and Chinese lanterns fit in with the theme over at Stamping Sensations.

The background was one I made when I was having a play with alcohol inks. The Chinese Lantern Stamp is from Lavinia Stamps. I have some in the garden which were very lush and green, masses of leaves but there are only three lanterns, very disappointing. I think it put all its energy into the leaves rather than flowers and fruit. It will be moved this autumn!
Edited: thanks to Brenda I’m also sharing at We Love Chocolate Baroque.

Pretty in pink

This is my second post as GDT at Lasting Memories. Challenge ~518 is for Breast Cancer Awareness so we are looking for layouts that are monochromatic pink. I used a photo taken at my wedding of my husband's two great-nieces.

I found this very pretty paper in the DCWV stack Garden Party. The rose is raised and shiny IRL. The butterflies are also from the same stack.

The weather here for the last two days has been very wet, perfect crafting weather. Typically though I haven’t been able to make the most of it. On Friday I managed to pull a muscle in my back when I took something off a kitchen shelf. I didn’t think much of it at the time but by yesterday was in agony and spent most of the day lying down. Of course it didn’t start to hurt till the chiropractor had closed for the weekend! Today it’s only really comfortable sitting leaning back in a chair or lying down. Not very easy to craft like that!

OLC Christmas

This has to be one of the simplest cards I've ever made!  I used a very old long slim card blank from my stash. I still have quite a lot from my very early crafting days! They are all coloured and pearlescent, so never quite know what to do with them, hence the reason they are still at the bottom of my card blank box.

I stamped the image, another magazine freebie from last year,  in black archival ink so that it would dry.  I'm sharing with Cardz for Galz for their one layer challenge.

Fall

My goodness . two posts from me in one day - whatever next!

I'm delighted to have been asked to be a GDT on Lasting Memories. My first make is for challenge #517 Fall.

I used a photo from our trip to the States back in 2010. The papers are all out of my scraps drawer and the leaves were cut from scraps of card on my Cameo. You might be able to read the journalling if you enlarge the picture. And as it is all snippets I'm sharing this at the Playground - socially distancing of course!

Holly for Rudolph

I made these cards a little while ago ready for Rudolph Day. I was using up some bits of decoupage out of my bits box.

So they are all easy peasy and very quick but it's another three for my Christmas stash!

Embossed Christmas Tree

Well this card for CAS Mix Up was as difficult to make as my last two! I have never been successful embossing with dies as the card has always cut in places. This time was no exception with my Grand Caliber. So I dug out my Big Shot which I rarely use and it worked a dream.

I nked the die with Versamark so that I could add colour as well. I wish I'd gone with gold embossing powder now instead of green.

The die is an old one from Simon Says Stamp and has only been used a couple of times before as the diecuts are a bit fiddly to glue.
I'm also sharing this at CAS Christmas and Make My Monday.

Trees for Twofer

The Twofer challenge this month is Trees. I have lots of tree stamps in my stash so this should be easy - wrong! If I used a pine tree I couldn't see past a Christmas card . If I used any other sort of tree both designs turned out much the same.  My mojo has defintely taken a bit of a long hike.

In the end I used one of the trees from a HLS set Christmas Joy. I stamped thtree three times with Versamark and heat embossed in red sparkle on a piece of alcohol inked card. Of course I forgot to use talc on it so embossing powder stuck everywhere!  I brushed most of it off but couldn't get inside the trees so made a feature of it by adding some more, and then some stickles.

For my second card I stamped the tree -minus its trunk onto some scraps of patterned paper and paper pieced them round a circle, which looked slightly messy so the sentiment got added to a diecut circle.

And here they both are together.

I'm still not really happy with them. Who would have thought this challenge would be so tricky!
