The Male Room - Science Fiction!!!

Welcome to a new challenge in The Male Room, and this week it is Science Fiction! I have to confess that this had me totally stumped for a while. There was nothing in my stash that seemed to be remotely sci-fi. Eventually I found some I found some super files in the Silhouette  on-line store of planets and aliens. So my card was born! Lots of inking for the background, then a planet and an alien cut out of scraps of cherry cobbler, real red and old olive cardstock. The lettering was cut in vinyl(non-SU). The background was inked with brushes using so saffron and bashful blue with a light touch of midnight muse.

The stars were found in my stash . It's amazing what you find that you've forgotten all about when you have a good rummage. After all that I was really please with how it turned out! Lots of scraps used so a visit to the Playground is called for!

Much better than my first idea which was to use one of SU's retired stamps of a telephone box in blue - Dr Who. I also vaguely remembered seeing a card on Pinterest using the penny farthing that had been repeat stamped to give the illusion of movement, and thought I could do that with the police box to make it appear as if it was just arriving/leaving!

But I really didn't like it but thought I would show you anyway!

  1. The first card is pinch the cheek cute. Nicely done. I watch DR. Who on occasion and I like the card. Very well done.

  2. Well, I like them both! The idea of movement works well, funny I just tried this out myself on the card for TTT, but your cute aliens card is just fab, love how it grew out of nothing (a bit like mine!)

  3. Great card Sue. Love the little alien on the first one! Hugs, Carol S.xx

  4. I adore your cute little alien card. Great background, love the stars - a fun card. I know the phone box isn't quite the Tardis, but I just LOVE this one! As a Whovian, it made my day!

  5. Hee hee! I'm not a Doctor Who fan but I do know what's what and recognize the Tardis when I see one. The greeting with that card is a scream.

I'm loving your alien scenery though too. That's a definitely winner. Great cards!!

  6. LOVE your alien card Sue - rather cute :)

And, the Dr Who one works brilliantly, I can hear the music as I type!

  7. What a terrific imagination you have to come up with these brilliant cards for a tricky theme!

    Hugs, Sarn xxx

  8. LOVE the Dr Who card - inspired! The alien is great too - Jacqueline xx

  9. Great job on a boys card. your little alien is a cutie!

  10. I like both of these, Sue! The space aliens will be a hit with a little guy and the Dr. Who card is great for a big guy!

  11. Such fun cards and beautifully made. Love the space creature and your Dr Who card is so inventive.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my card.

  12. The little creature is so cute! Love the background you created. Cute card! I also like the other card you made.
