Less is More - One Layer Card - Film

Well I've had plenty of time to think about this over the weekend as I was away visiting son and family. I was able to put my thinking cap on in between reading stories and building Lego!! When I first saw the challenge nothing came to mind that I could relate to any of my stamps - not being a great film goer. OH on the other hand loves watching films on TV and the older the better! I didn't have any stamps that remotely reminded me of John Wayne movies (some of his favourites) or black and white war films (lol)! Then inspiration hit!  And this is what I came up with.

And for those of you too young to remember it,  the film is "Genevieve"The stamp is from Creative Expressions.

The Trials and Tribulations of a Golden Wedding Card!

Last week my OH rang me from work to ask me to make a Golden Wedding card for a former colleague to give her parents. After some thinking time I decided what to do and produced a card and matching box. When I showed him he seemed less than impressed and kept on about putting a butterfly on it! I was due to mail it Monday morning and against my better judgement, just before boxing it up, I decided to see what a butterfly would look like on it. Not nice, much too big. So then I decided to add two more roses (the original only had one). Squeezed the bottle of glue and nothing hppened as the nozzle was blocked, cleared it - or so I thought- gave another squeeze and the nozzle flew off dispensing Cosmic Shimmer glue everywhere! Fortunately most of it went down me and only a small amount on the edge of the card. Hastily wiped it off before changing trousers. Put them in the wasbasin with some water while I checked the card was OK. Went back to them a few minutes later to find they were sticking to themselves! A very hurried trip downstairs to the washing machine. Thankfully when they came out it had all washed off!! Back to the card. I don't think anyone would have noticed where the glue had been but I could see it. What to do-  should I start again?  No chance I quickly cut two more borders in cream and added them down the side.

Here is a close up of the roses

and the embossed detail

I used Spellbinders Vintage Lace motifs and accents, Creative Expressions floral embossing folder, Stampin' Up! framelits die for the centre which I stamped and heat embossed in gold with their Memorable Moments stamp set. The inside of the card was created in Craft Artist and mounted onto the gold shimmer card as well but I forgot to take a photo of that.

The box lid was also made from the gold shimmer card, the initials were made in Craft Artist.

I had an email yesterday to say she loved it - thank goodness for that. She also said it was perfumed which it took me a while to work out, then realised it must have been the lemony smell from the Grime Boss I had used to wipe the glue away with!

Hope I haven't sent you all to sleep with this long  post!

A Special Christmas Card

I bought these Create a Scene cards from Creative Expressions a good few years ago and have never done anything with them.

So this year decided I would make one special card and here is the result. The scene is also from Creative Expressions - again two stamps I bought from them a long time ago. The holly on the window frame is from a et of stamps from Kodomo. the window is glazed with acetate.

The resulting card was a bit front heavy so  Ialso decorated the inside to balance it so that it would stand up.

Hope you like it.

PTW Sketch Challenge

It is quite a long time since I joined in with the Papertake Weekly challenge. This week it is a sketch challenge and here is my entry for it. The papers are from a Papermania pad, the stamp is by Creative Expressions and the sentiment is from Little Claire. Coloured with copics.

Less is More Challenge - Week 66 Colour Challenge

I haven't done one of these challenges for ages, or indeed any other challenge!. Every Saturday I look to see what the challenge is with the intention of entering and before I know what's happened it's Friday and I haven't even started. This week I have done better. I did find yellow quite difficult though - not a colour I would normally use as the main colour.

I used a Kanban stamp that had never been inked and the sentiment is from a Creative Expessions set. I must say having got round to inking this stamp I rather like it. Must go and have a look to see what else I've got unused! Quite a lot I think!

80th Birthday Card

A friend living in France is going to be eighty next week. This is the card I have made her.

I embossed the middle white piece of card with a Creative Expressions embossing folder. The two pink edge pieces were made with a Martha Stewart punch, the flowers, pink frame and number panel used spellbinders dies and the ribbon is Stampin' Up.

Another with Legs!

After doing the cats I decided to use another stamp that has never been inked! This time I chose a cream DL card as it seemed to suit the image! The stamp is from a Creative Expressions set and again I coloured it with Aquamarkers.

Less is More

This week I've decided to have a go at the Less is More Challenge. The theme is Off Centre. I have used Creative Expressions Button Floral stamp set, stamping the flower onto what was left of the yellow spotty paper I used for the last card and highlighted the petals with 3D lacquer. Then I added a button threaded with yellow organza ribbon. I have to say ! am really pleased with the end result.

Victorian Valentine

I had an idea for a valentine using this image from the Dancing with Shadows CD and the Victorian Heart stamp from Creative Expressions. It was one of the first stamps I bought and so far have used it for wedding cards, an anniversary card and 21st birthday card. I had visualised it on white but it diidn't look quite right so evolved into this. It is actually mounted on red mirri card but hasn't scanned very well .

The heart was coloured with brush markers then covered with Glossy Accents.

Christmas

I've just completed my first batch of Christmas cards. This time last year I had finished them all! Here's some pictures. They are all very simple. I have used the Art Impressions Bethlehem stamp and a Creative Expressions Christmas Tree stamp, which was part of my purchases from Ally Pally last weekend.

First Anniversary

My son and daughter -in- law will be celebrating their first anniversary soon so have made a very simple card for them.
I used the Victorian Heart stamp from Creative Expressions - but only the middle part of the stamp. Embossed in silver then coloured with Sakura Glaze pens. The corners of the card are embossed and chalked in pink. This is the first time I have used the light box and embossed and was really just trying it out but thought the effect was very pretty so turned it into this card.
