New Job

No posts from me for ages, then two in three days! One of my sons changed his job last year and this is the card I made for him. It's been sitting in my drafts since I made, it waiting for me to blog it, and today's the day!

I used large letter dies from Stamping Up and snippets of cardstock in different shades of blue for the letters and mat.

New Rudolph Day

Hello and welcome to Rudolph Day! I'm delighted that Helen Nile has taken up the mantle now that Maureen has 'retired' so that the Rudolph Day challenge can continue.

My card this month is a Woodware stamp coloured with Copics and cut out with a scalloped die which I think is a Crealie one. Image and sentiment both on scraps of white card. I mounted it onto a scrap of dark blue card and embossed the card blank with the Stampin Up falling snow embossing folder.

Butterfly Birthday

I was delighted to see that I was a top pick in last month's Butterfly Challenge. So of course I had to make a card for this month.
Here is what is required.

I didn't go for the shape this month though, just the diecut, three of the colours and of course the butterfly.

I stamped the butterfly on a snippet of white, and after three attempts got the three part stamping to line up. Now I know when I bought this stamp set I also bought the two sets of dies that went with it. I found one set, but not the one containing the butterfly outline. I have absolutely no idea where it can be. so had to fussy cut it instead. I then brushed the same inks over another scrap of white card but they came out quite pale. I placed the Christmas Bubbles die (unbranded) over the inked card leaving a small border, then inked over the holes to strengthen the colours. I added the butterfly at the "waist" of the die. The butterfly is from SU Watercolor Wings, the sentiment from Clarity Stamps.

Four Panel Card

I decided to have a go at making a four panel card for Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge, as I need to build up my stock of birthday cards. The hardest part of making this was deciding what papers, card etc to use.

Eventually I went with just one paper rather than coordinating ones.

The flowers were die cut from a piece of brusho paper that was lurking in my scraps drawer using a Tim Holtz die set. The sentiment was cut from the same card as the card base and is a Concord and Ninth die set.

These are the snippets I used. The butterflies on the front are a Stampin Up punch. A few rhinestones finished it off.  So for the Butterfly challenge I have followed the card shape, theme and used three of the colours, Forest green, Fuschia (purple) and French Rose (pink)

Ho HO HO Santa

Today I have another card using the cute Santa from Uniko to show. The big day is coming up fast, so hope you’ve got your stash of cards ready.

For the background I found this piece of pretty Christmas tree paper. The banner he is standing on is a snippet from another paper.

Rudolph Day - September 2022

Well normal service is not yet resumed as still testing positive and feel very lightheaded. However I did manage to make a card yesterday for the Rudolph Day challenge, and really should have chosen to do something less fiddly!

The die was another magazine freebie from quite a while ago. Originally I had intended embedding the holly leaves as well, but by the time I'd done the candles and berries I was beginning to lose enthusiasm, and actually I quite like it as it is. I added the peel off stars and sentiment as it looked a bit bare at the bottom.

Scrapbook layout

I decided it was high time to start another scrapbook. This time to cover our cruising holidays over the last four years, with a two year Covid break of course.
Our first cruise, done with some trepidation, was to the Canaries in 2018, so I have started with that and the ship we sailed on.

A lot of snippets were used, albeit some large ones. All the papers were out of my scrapbooking snippets drawer. The ship was cut out of snippets of white card on my Cameo then coloured with Copics.

A Masterpiece for Rudolph!

No not one of mine(lol)! I recently saw a post from Miss Di using the Penny Black Materpieces made Simple toppers which inspired me to get some. The title of them is very apt as they do make simple cards that really are very nice.

I chose to use a pale blue card with a shimmery gold mat. Very simple. The hardest part was finding a rectangle die that was the same proportions - this was the best out of the many I've got - but is still not quite right. The sentiment was just stamped with gold ink., and I added some Wink of Stella to the snowy bits for a bit of sparkle.

Rudolph Day - May

I'm not sure where the month has gone but it's time for Rudolph Day again! Normally I have a card made well in advance but not this month!  I  have used a NBUS Woodware stamp that I won in the mega Christmas Draw at Pixies Crafty Playground. Thank you Di.

I stamped the image in  black and heat embossed it on  watercolour card as I have a lot of offcuts lying around from my painting classes. I coloured it with Derwent Graphitint watercolours, then added a slimline scalloped frame from Simon Says Stamp ( another snippet and NBUS) so I'm also sharing this at Pixies Playground and the NBUS challenge.

Snippets challenge

Just popping in quickly with my snippets card for Miss Di's Christmas challenge at the Playground. Having cut out out four different colours of card with the SSS geometric builder die for my last card I had lots and lots of different coloured shapes to use up.

This time I made a DL card and mounted the shapes in a red frame. Again no sentiment till I decide who or what to use it for.. I think I like this one best.

All that's left is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year, I'll be back on 1st January with the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges.

Geometric Snippets

I recently bought the geometric builder die from Simon Says Stamp, which I thought would be good for using up snippets and for masculine card. For my first play with it I selected four different coloured scraps of card and cut the die four times.

The came the fun bit, playing around making different patterns with the shapes. When I was happy I stuck them to a square of black card before adding to a white card blank. No sentiment yet till I decide who is going to get it. Obviously this is going over to the Playground. Rumour has it that Sarn is up to mischief over there! And as it was the die's first outing I can join in at the NBUS challenge.

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much recently or indeed posting either. This is partly due to Christmas preparations, but also because I am having trouble with my wrists, possible tendonitis . I have an appointment with the Doctor on Monday, but I'm not sure how she is going to decide what is wrong with them as it is a telephone appointment!

Add a Bow!

This week's challenge at Allsorts is to use a bow. I have taken a leaf out of Darnell's book and been trying to use up some of the things in my bits /UFO box.where I foud this previously stamped aperture. I trimmed it down and added a stitched border die round the edge, then cut a smaller circle for the sentiment.
I then looked in my very messy ribbon box as I was fairly sure I had a pre-tied green bow in there. It turned out to be just knotted so didn't think that would qualify as a bow. Instead I found this snippet of green checked ribbon which was just big enough to get a bow out of. I made a card blank out of Watermelon Wonder cardstock as it looked a bit insipid on a white one.I'm also going to share this at the Playground as apart from the base the whole thing consists of snippets.

Blue!

Thelast challenge of the year at Cardz for Guyz is "Blue" I had lots of pieces of blue paper, and still have, in my snippets box, so made two cards using some of them.

Sadly it didn't make much of a dent in the pile but it did make two fairly quick and easy cards. I'm looking forward to seeing your blue creations.

Do It Yourself!

There was recently a give away with a magazine of some dies to make a pop up box with tools for the male version. Perfect for this fortnight's challenge at Cardz for Guyz which is DIY.
I sort of followed the instructions to make the card with the box inside.
This is the front using some wood style paper that was from SU an age ago.

And this is the inside with the tools on acetate to pop up.

I have to say that this has been one of the fiddliest and most tim-consuming card I've made in a very long time. I doubt that I'll be making another any time soon! On the plus side it did use up some snippets, so I can take it over to the Playground.

Rudolph Day - March

I'm just popping in at the very last minute with my Rudolph Day card. I've had it made for a couple of days but just not found the time to blog it.

I used the SU Sparkly Seasons stamp set and dies. When this set came out I wasn't very keen then someone gave me a card using it and I wished I'd bought it. Luckily I just found one on that well known auction site that had never been used. It's just a shame that the die set doesn't include one for the snowglobe base. I mounted it onto a snippet of Christmas paper. The red card and the white I stamped on all came out of the snippets box as well. So a trip to the Playground is called for as well.

Pop out card!

I recently had to make a quick card for Roy's great-niece who was just about to be three when she came to our wedding. I had some perfect girly paper from a pad that I had won some time ago, with fairies, princesses and castles, which doesn't get used much as I have all boys!  One sheet of paper for the card front. Then I found some snippets of pale pink card to diecut the letters and number for the front of the card.

For the inside I found a larger snippet and used a SU die for the inside. In case you can't quite see it, it says Happy Birthday

I'm popping over to the Playground with this as snippets have been used. Wonder how the Christmas preparations are going there?

Butterfly Dream

I have been having a bit of a clear out in the craft room now that I think I have made enough Christmas cards for this year. As a result I made this card - all from the snippets and UFO box!

The butterfly was left over from a birthday present I made last February, the embossed background was a piece I had embossed and never used, and the pink paper and diecut sentiment were snippets.
Obviously I am taking this over to the Playground as I haven't been there for quite a while and it also fits the theme of "Things with Wings" at Always use Rubber. I'm delighted to say I won the October prize there.

"The Wedding", Rudolph Day and Happy Little Stampers

Well we were so lucky to have great weather last Saturday for our wedding. Yep, I've finally gone and done it!  Just a few phone photos for you as I haven't got the official ones yet.

Signing the Register

With some of the grand kids. From L-R Dylan (Roy's great nephew) Declan (my eldest Grandson) Pollly (Roy's great niece) and Jack (my other grandson. Missing is Daisy - Polly's sister who didn't want her photo taken and ran away!

Pretending to cut the cake which was quite small but looks positively minute in the picture!

And now here's my card for Rudolph Day and also Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge which is to use embossing. I'm also hopping over to the Playground as the red card was a snippet. The die is from Memory Box and the EF is a retired  SU one.

Fast and Flighty!!

Cardz4 Guyz are asking for cards with a theme using the letter F.  Fish seemed to be the favourite option of the design team and I have to say that was the first thing I thought of.
Then I remembered the SU stamp set Need For Speed that I bought for the plane to make a card for my son who is in the RAF. It was time to get it inked up again.

I found some cloudy background paper from a 6 x6 pad, no idea what make it is, and a curly sentiment banner from my stash, and mounted that on a snippet of dark grey card. I stamped and coloured 3 planes and fussy cut them and mounted them with foam squares.  I'm taking this over to the Playground as well, need to see if Miss has got the paddling pool out!

Daisy card.

It's been a little while since I visited the Playground, so thought it was high time I visited to see what mischief my fellow playmates were getting up to.

Apart from the card blank this was made entirely out of snippets. The daisies are cut with a SU sizzix die and the leaves are a very old punch, make unknown . I thought the paper was so pretty it didn't need too much embellishment.
