The Male Room - Christmas

It's time for a new challenge at The Male Room. I know these are only every two weeks but they do seem to come round fast! This time the challenge is Christmas but must have a masculine feel to it.

I have use a couple of Clarity stamps that I bought last year and never got round to using. I heat embossed them with gold them  coloured them in with Blendabilities. Some Cherry Cobbler glitter glue for the berries added a bit of sparkle. Don't forget to check out the rest of the DTs work.

The Male Room - Make Ribbon Masculine!

Well the theme at The Male Room this time, " Make Ribbon Masculine" was quite a challenge! Eventually I came up with the idea of trying to make a rosette!

I cut a circle of card and backed it with double sided strong adhesive. Originally I was going to use a narrower ribbon in Midnight Muse but couldn't get it to look right until I realised I needed a wider ribbon. This was the most masculine I'd got even though it's Calypso Coral! However I think the wood background made it a bit more male orientated!

I'm afraid the photo is really, really rubbish- to start with Sunday was so dark I thought I'd wait to photograph it, then Monday was lovely and bright but of course I then got shadows!

The rest of the DT have some lovely inspiration for you!

The Male Room - Time

Hello all,it's time for a new challenge over at The Male Room, and this week it is "Time"

I decided to go with coffee time which gave me an opportunity to break open a Simon Says Stamp monthly kit. I think this was the September one which I had only looked at and not played with. I sponged a white card blank with the khaki inkpad from the kit, then randomly stamped a watch in the same colour. The stamp was a magazine freebie from a long time ago!. I paper pieced the coffee mug and added one of the embellishments from the kit as well.

The Male Room - Halloween

I'm not big on Halloween so don't have much in the way of stamps etc for it. But I did get this digi image last year from Just Inklined to make a one layer card for a challenge. Since then it has been sitting in my box of " must do something with that"! So I pulled it out and cut it up!

I mounted the image onto some shiny purple mirri card and then onto some dark green, added some tiny spiders webs in the corners and mounted it onto an orange card blank. The sentiment got the same layering treatment.  Now I wonder if I'll be able to upcycle this again next year(lol)!

The Male Room - Sketch

First of all I would like to welcome my new followers. I hope you come back to visit often and be sure to leave me a comment so I know you've been - I love getting comments! There's a new challenge at The Male Room and this week we have a sketch for you.

This week I have made a Christmas card in an attempt to build up my stash!

I have used a scrap of paper that i've had lying in my Christmas paper drawer for a couple of years. I thought the dull red and gold would make for a manly card! I added a strip of gold glimmer paper and stamped two stars from the Bright and Beautiful set, embossed with gold powder and layered them up. The sentiment is from Good Greeetings and also embossed. Lots of snippets used here so i'm going to vist the Playground again.

The Male Room - Metal

It's time for a new challenge at The Male Room and this time it is to use metal. I hope mirri card counts!

I embossed a piece of grey mirri card with a Spellbinders embossabilitie folder. I thought it looked a bit like tyre treads. The stam was a freebie from a magazine which I stamped in black and clear embossed. Then I added a few die cut cogs in black, silver and grey mirri.

The Male Room - Make Pink Masculine!!

We have a new challenge at The Male Room and boy is it a challenge!! "Make pink masculine"!!! I have to admit I really, really struggled with this and in the end decided on just a small amount of pink.

I coloured the seaweed stamp with my markers and used Melon Mamb, Pink Pirouette, and Strawberry Slush. I'm afraid my photo seems to look more orane than pink! I inked the fish with both gold and silver encore ink pads - the idea was to make it shimmery like fish scales, but it really didn't photo well either! The piece of silver mesh was lyin around on my desk, after it had fallen out of my box of oddments - thought it could symbolise a fishing net, and Pool Party card to represent the sea.

The Male Room - Geometric

Its time for a new challenge at The Male Room and the theme is "Geometric". I'm so glad I made this in advance as I haven't been feeling too well for the last few days, that and the fact that my little craft room - and I do mean little- gets the full sun all day so is unbearably hot at the moment, means that my crafting mojo is nil!!

I used the hexagon embossing folder for the background, a strip of Moonlight DSP and some hexagon shapes stamped with Hello Honey and Smoky Slate (which isn't showing up too well on the photo) and punched them out.  The greeting is from Wetlands. The bit that took the longest was trying to decide where to place the hexagons!

The Male Room - Games

The theme this time at The Male Room is "Games". You'd think it would be easy but it had me stumped for a while- then I thought of noughts and crosses and after that I couldn't think of anything else. This card though is definitely not what was in my head when I started making it.

There always seem to be lots of cards in blogland with wonky layers so thought I'd go down that route, but I'm not really very happy with it but I've run out of time to do anything else! The little card is from Project Life - showing that they are not just for scrapping! The large sentiment is non SU.

The Male Room - A sketch

This week at the Male Room we have a sketch to follow. I have to admit to not finding it an easy one.

But here is my attempt.

I used some cog dies (non SU) and snippets of gold and silver foil card plus some snippets of black mirri card. I heat embossed the central sentiment three times with clear embossing powder so that it was as shiny as all the rest of the elements. I made this before I went on holiday as I knew that I probably wouldn't have time when I got back. I was right - still haven't managed to get back into the craft room. If you would like to see some photos of where I've been then have a look HERE.
