The Male Room Vintage Challenge

Hello and welcome to a new challenge in The Male Room. This week the theme is "Vintage" and as always has to be for a male!  I wasn't really sure exactly what I was going to do, the only thing that was a definite was to use The Open Sea stamp set, and this is what I ended up with.

I stamped the ship with Soft Suede onto a circle of Very Vanilla ,sponged some Soft Sky around it and added a frame cut out of a snippet of  Crumb Cake card. The idea was that it should look like a porthole. Then I repeat stamped the background writing stamp onto Very Vanilla, stamped the map three times across the middle using Soft Sky and sponged Soft Suede around the edges. I stamped the anchor onto a scrap of crumb cake card,  fussy cut it out and punched a hole at the top to thread the linen thread through. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. As I have used some snippets I'm going to pay a visit to the Playground as I haven't been there for a while and it's time to see what mischief everyone is getting up to. If you have no idea what I'm talking about - why don't you go and take a look- always something fun going on.

Seize the Birthday meets Open Sea

There is another new challenge blog called Seize the Birthday. Last week the sketch was for a female card and this week it is the same sketch for a male card. Unfortunately I didn't get round to playing last week. It was perfect though, this week, for one of my UFOs which has been on my desk since long before Christmas!

And this is the sketch

I used papers from the Festival of Prints pad which is definitely not just for Christmas, but if you want one you will need to hurry as it will disappear at the end of this month.

Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
DSP: Fesstival of Prints
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Stamp set: The Open Sea

Dynamic Duos Challenge

Last night was card club but didn't go as I'd broken a tooth and didn't feel very sociable. But I did make the card I'd planned on doing! The theme ar Dynamic Duos this week is to use Black and Poppy Red. For this card I used The Open Sea again and the frameabilities. As I wanted a layer of black between the image and the red I made a faux frameability by drawing round the die used for the image and cutting it out with scissors.

Card and chequeholder

This started as just a card for my brother-in-law but as we were sending him a cheque as well I made a matching cheque holder. The cardstock was Bravo Burgundy and Night of Navy with Whisper White. Although it doesn't show up very well in the picture I used Naturals Ivory for the card blank. The stamp set used was The Open Sea stamped in Night of Navy  for the main image and anchors. The background was stamped with Bravo Burgundy to give a watermark effect. Some linen thread wrapped around finished it off.
