LIm - Festive

The last challenge of the year at Less is More is a one layer festive card. I used a Sweet Poppy snowflake stencil which I dabbed Versamark through  then added some WOW embossing powder. (Note to self: remove stencil befor adding embossing powder next time as it was a nightmare to get off the metal stencil!)

A simple sentiment completed the card. In real life it is very sparkly, hope you can  see it in the next photo.
As it is a brand new stencil I am going to share it with Darnell's NBUS Challenge.

Let it Snow

It's time for another challenge at Cardz for Galz and the cue is "Let it Snow". I found this pretty snowflake paper in my stash and cut out his gorgeous snowflake. I think it is a Memory Box die but I'm not sure.

My idea originally was to inlay it  with some icy blue glitter paper but it was too pale and didn't show up, and also incredibly fiddly!. Then I rememberd I had some Bedazzle bead/glitter from many moons ago and had a lovely bluey green one. I carefully tipped some ontop and pressed down onto the adhesive. I will add a sentiment later but wanted to make sure the beads really stuck first.

CAS Watercolour - Snowflake

I have been meaning to join in with the challenge at CAS Watercolor  for ages and was determined to make a card for it this month. After all it didn't look difficult  - watercolour and a snowflake.

How wrong was I! I started off doing an emboss resist piece but the embossing didn't work very well on watercolour paper, so it went in the bin. Then I made a Brusho background which was quite nice but I wasn't sure where to go with it. A few days later I remembered this snowflake die which hadn't been used and thought I could put the Brusho background behind it, but a) it was too pale, and b) it was too narrow. So back to the drawing board and I found a piece of vellum, wet it and sprinkled it with brushos, now this looked much better behind the snowflake. I rather like the way the light comes through but I think it will have to have some sort of insert to hide the inside before I can use it next Christmas.

Merry Monday Snowflakes

It's been a while since I entered the Merry Monday challenge and when I sat down to make a card for it this was not what I intended! This one sort of came out of nowhere!  But I kind of like it!! As well as snowflakes you had to use blue, silver/grey and white.

I used the Festive Flurry stamp set which had only just arrived. I wasn't going to buy it as I have two previous snowflake sets but then when I saw what other people were making with it I succumbed - again!! It's a very simple card - I stamped the largest snowflake in the centre with Versamark and embossed it with Pool Party. I used the second smallest for the corners and embossed in silver. Then stamped the smallest twice and embossed one in Pool Party and one in Silver. The Pool Party one I fussy cut down so just the middle was used and layered them up in the middle. Finally I added one of the Frosted Finished embellishments for a bit of sparkle. I was surprised at how weighty these are but it still stuck down well.
