Twofer Leaves.

I thought I'd better get this post written today just in case I react to the 2nd Covid Jab which I had this morning. Not sure how it will react with the steroids I'm having to take.I do know though that I probably won't be as protected as I would be if I wasn't having to take them. It also took me three days to make these cards as I was having a couple of tired days. It is so easy to overdo things now!

The Twofer challenge this month is Leaves. I came across this die in my stash when I was looking for something else and thought I would use it. I've got no idea where I got it from or how long I've had it!

The first card was nice and easy. I cut the leaves out of green card and mounted it on a previously made background. The die  cut frame was also in my bits and bobs drawer.

The second one took a lot more thought. Eventually I cut the left hand leaf off and inked it randomly with Distress oxides, then cut and inked another three.
I found a matching snippet of orange paper which I wrapped with linen thread and mounted on the bottom of the card and placed the four leaves randomly along the join.

And here they are together.

Off  for a rest now befoer I go for my post lockdown haircut. I don't think my hair has been this long since I was in my twenties!

Twofer Flower Challenge

As usual with the Twofer challenge I've left it to the last minute to enter. I always think of it as a monthly challenge, which of course it is, but is only a fortnight long!

I used a new stamp set from Visible Image that I have reccently bought ready for a workshop next month. For my first card I stamped the flower, vase and stalk in black then coloured it with polychromos coloured pencils.

I trimmed and matted it with some orange card, added a sentiment and doodled round the edge.

For my second card I used just the flower head and embossed it in silver. Then sponged Speckled Egg, Milled Lavender and Spun Sugar DI over it giving it a very subtle look.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto a piece of torn vellum and wrapped it round the panel. And here are the two together.

I'm also sharing at the NBUS challenge.

Christmas Stars

I'm sneaking in to this month's Twofer Challenge at almost the last minute. I always find this challenge a "challenge" and this month particularly so. I have no shortage of stars in my stash but found it hard to decide what to do. I'm still not entirely happy with them but at least I've tried.

My first card was done after seeing some of Kevin Nakagawa's tutorials. I think I need a lot more practise and the trees would show up more if I'd clear embossed them on top of the black ink.

The snow splatters were made by hitting a Posca pen with a ruler. Somehow i've managed to get them in a straight line.

My second card is still using the swirl of stars plus the larger star image which was heavily winked with red to give it a bit of sparkle.

And here are the two together. All the stamps are from SU.

Silhouette for Twofer

I'm cutting it a bit fine for this month's Twofer challenge. I think of it as a monthly challenge but of course it's only two weeks!  Anyway I dug out a stamp that was one of the first ones I ever bought and haven't really used it since!  I hope it counts as a silhouette.

For the first card I stamped it three times without reinking, The sentiment is from Penny Black.. I've no idea who made the rose stamp as I've long since peeled it off its wood mount.

The second card is just a single image with some spots from a very useful little stamp from Lavinia stamps . Makes splattering a whole lot easier!

And here are my two cards together. Hope they count as they are both simply stamped.

Trees for Twofer

The Twofer challenge this month is Trees. I have lots of tree stamps in my stash so this should be easy - wrong! If I used a pine tree I couldn't see past a Christmas card . If I used any other sort of tree both designs turned out much the same.  My mojo has defintely taken a bit of a long hike.

In the end I used one of the trees from a HLS set Christmas Joy. I stamped thtree three times with Versamark and heat embossed in red sparkle on a piece of alcohol inked card. Of course I forgot to use talc on it so embossing powder stuck everywhere!  I brushed most of it off but couldn't get inside the trees so made a feature of it by adding some more, and then some stickles.

For my second card I stamped the tree -minus its trunk onto some scraps of patterned paper and paper pieced them round a circle, which looked slightly messy so the sentiment got added to a diecut circle.

And here they both are together.

I'm still not really happy with them. Who would have thought this challenge would be so tricky!

A Sunny New Home

I'm cutting it a bit fine for this month's Twofer challenge, but I've combined it with a new home card for my neighbour's daughter and family. They sold their house just before lockdown and were due to move into a new build, which of course went on hold, so their original 3 week stay with Dad has turned into 6 months. This is the card I have made for them ready for next week when they finally get into their new home.

My second card turned into a get well card for my stash. I did quite a bit of fussy cutting for this one.

The flower petals are actually pale pink although they look white in the photo.

And here they both are together.

The sun, clouds and flowers are from a Simon Says Stamp set and the house is from Stamping Up.

Circles for Twofer

This month's challenge at Twofer is Circles or Bubbles. After considerable thought I decided to use a stamp from a Happy Little Stampers set.  I had thought Id stamp it randomly across the card and turn it into flowers, but once I'd stamped a few in orange and blue I decided to leave it as a random row across the card, making it ideal for a male card.

I knew I was going to use it as a sun for my second card, but had to choose something to go with it.  I fished out this stamp set that was a freebie from a magazine last year I think and gave it a very gentle watercolour wash.

And it was one layer, which used to terrify me! Hopefully the sun is going to show its face again here this week - at least the forecast says it will - it's supposed to be reaching 30 degrees on Wednesday! I’m also sharing the second card with Addicted to CAS - One Layer

Flowers for Twofer!

Every month I plan on entering Darnell's Twofer challenge, and every month I manage to miss it, but not this month, I've made it!  Here are my two cards.

I have used a stamp from Simon Says Stamp which has never seen ink before! On the first one I have used the whole of the stamp, coloured it with Zig watercolors and added a simple sentiment to the centre of the wreath. Just to be a bit different I stamped it onto a cream diecut rectangle from my bits box and aded it to a white card.

For the second one I used a diecut circle from my bits box , it's still overflowing though! I stamped part of the image twice, coloured it with Copics to match the background paper and fussy cut it out.

The flowers were then heavily winked to add some sheen, as was the sentiment.

I am going to enter the first card at Stamping Sensations, Cardz for Galz and also the NBUS challenge.

Twofer Challenge

Every month I mean to enter Darnell's Twofer challenge and I think so far I've only managed it once! But this month I'm squeezing in at almost the last minute. The cue word is garden which made me think of the stamp from Little Claire (sadly no longer trading).

My first card is a sympathy card. Sadly I needed one recently for a crafting friend who died very suddenly and unexpectedly, and realise my box was empty and I do like to have at least one on standby.
I stamped simply in black and heat embossed it with clear powder. Diecut the image panel and mat with, I think, MFT dies.

My second card is a bit more cheerful. Again I stamped and heat embossed then coloured with distress markers. The sentiment is from Uniko.

And here are the cards  side by side.

Harvest!

The Twofer challenge is Harvest, so I will have to thank Darnell for enabling me to increase my stamp stash! After going through every stamp and die I possess I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to join in unless I went shopping. So I did! And I am now the proud owner of two stamps and a die that fir the theme. However I have only used one of the stamps.

My first card is a one layer card with the stamp, from HeroArts, and the sentiment,  simply stamped in black and clear embossed.

My second card is a bit brighter. I stamped randomly in two shades of yellow along the bottom of a panel of card. The sentiment, from Uniko is in Soft Suede and the butterflies were cut out of a piece of cardwhere I had been playing with brushos.

And here they are together.

I'll be back on Tuesday with my card for Cardz 4 Guyz.

Twofer Challenge - Leaves!

I fully intended entering Darnell's Twofer challenge right at the begining, but you know what they say about good intentions! Now, some nine months later I have actually made two cards for it!! This month it is all about leaves.

My onefer is similar to one I made a few years ago. I have used one of the first stamps I ever bought, no idea what the make is as I have de-wooden blocked it! I stamped it randomly in red, yellow, green and brown, then added Versamark over the whole panel and clear embossed it, so IRL it is really shiny.I mounted that onto some copper mirri card, then stamped and embossed the sentiment in a matching ink.

My twofer has much less stamping. I heat embossed two leaves in gold and fussy cut them out.

After I hadmounted them ont the mat I decided to add a bit of colour with my sponge daubers, it actually looks quite good but not in the photo. So that's my two cards and here they are both together.
