Rudolph Day January 2023

Welcome to the first Rudolph Day of 2023! It's the place to join in if you want to get ahead with your Christmas cards. I have had this Memory Box die sitting on my desk for months - unused!  The paper was also sitting there waiting to be put away - there's less of it to go away now!

I cut the die out twice, once in red and once in green. To be honest I didn't really like either of them, but decided to  go with red, with just a bit of green for the sentiment panel. Since photographing it I have liberally applied red Wink of Stella to the leaves to brighten it up a bit.

I made a second card with the paper and just a strip of red card for the sentiment. I have to confess I like this one better. I think the die might well end up in my 'for sale' box.

Rudolph Day - May 2022

Well here we again- Rudolph Day time! Actually I’m a bit late this month. I had to tidy and clean all the pastel dust up after doing a painting. The dust gets everywhere so there is no way I can do any cardmaking or scrapbooking till I’ve got rid of it all.

My card this month uses a NBUS die from Charlie and Paulchen. I have to blame Chrissie Stokes for introducing me to this company as she has been using quite a lot of their dies recently. I just thought I’d have a quick look at their site and of course one or two of their dies just happened to jump into my basket! I decide a fairly simple design would work well and used some old SU plaid paper for the mat and to cut the trees.

Twofer Leaves.

I thought I'd better get this post written today just in case I react to the 2nd Covid Jab which I had this morning. Not sure how it will react with the steroids I'm having to take.I do know though that I probably won't be as protected as I would be if I wasn't having to take them. It also took me three days to make these cards as I was having a couple of tired days. It is so easy to overdo things now!

The Twofer challenge this month is Leaves. I came across this die in my stash when I was looking for something else and thought I would use it. I've got no idea where I got it from or how long I've had it!

The first card was nice and easy. I cut the leaves out of green card and mounted it on a previously made background. The die  cut frame was also in my bits and bobs drawer.

The second one took a lot more thought. Eventually I cut the left hand leaf off and inked it randomly with Distress oxides, then cut and inked another three.
I found a matching snippet of orange paper which I wrapped with linen thread and mounted on the bottom of the card and placed the four leaves randomly along the join.

And here they are together.

Off  for a rest now befoer I go for my post lockdown haircut. I don't think my hair has been this long since I was in my twenties!

Flower Silhouette

It's time for another challenge at Perfectly Cas where we challenge you to only use one third of your card.

This month we want to see diecuts on your card.It took me quite a while to decide what to do for this!
Finally I decided on a stencilled background and a silhouette of a flower.

I must be in Spring mode as I've gone for yellow again! The stencil is a Neat and tangled one that was sent me by Chrissie and I have only just got round to using, but it certainly won't be the last. I'm pretty certain it is a Penny Black die, but packaging is long gone. I cut it out three times in white and glued them together for a bit of added dimension. Originally I was going to leave it white but it just didn't show up enough, so the top layer got coloured with a black Copic.

Do be sure to check out all the fab makes from the rest of the DT.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

Happy New Year
And here we are (almost! ) in 2020 and the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges.

I have gone with the optional twist as I usually try to, but it is entirely up to you whether to use it or not.

I found the background in my drawer of bits. I made it by spraying it randomly with Distress Spray them smooshing Distress Oxide inks over it. I then found another piece of card where I had been playing with Brushos and diecut the flower using a Spellbinders die. A simple sentiment finished it off.

I do hope you'll check out the challenge blog and join in with us.

Happy Little Stampers -Christmas

Well here we are almost halfway through the year, so it's a really good reason to make a start on those Christmas cards if you haven't already. Our challenge at Happy Little Stampers is all ready to inspire you!

As always it is ATG but this month the option is circles.

I have used yet another magazine freebie from a couple of years ago. I cut the die out in white card and then added some tiny scraps of yellow behind the windows, before mounting it onto another scrap of blue card.I added a little bit of Stickles glitter glue round the buildings and the snow is Nuvo drops

I'm looking forward to seeing your makes in the gallery.
