Christmas Stars

I'm sneaking in to this month's Twofer Challenge at almost the last minute. I always find this challenge a "challenge" and this month particularly so. I have no shortage of stars in my stash but found it hard to decide what to do. I'm still not entirely happy with them but at least I've tried.

My first card was done after seeing some of Kevin Nakagawa's tutorials. I think I need a lot more practise and the trees would show up more if I'd clear embossed them on top of the black ink.

The snow splatters were made by hitting a Posca pen with a ruler. Somehow i've managed to get them in a straight line.

My second card is still using the swirl of stars plus the larger star image which was heavily winked with red to give it a bit of sparkle.

And here are the two together. All the stamps are from SU.

Stars for Happy Little Stampers

Well here we are at the start of another month so its time for the first challenge of the month at Happy Little Stampers.

As I usually do, I have gone with the optional twist.

I used one of Concord and 9th's turnabout stamps, stamping with Versamark and using four different embossing powders. Then I brushed Stormy Skies and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides over the whole thing and finally sprtized with water. Now I hadn't properly thought this through when I started, so had stamped on some SU Whisper White card and it really doesn't like getting wet as it bubbles abit. Fortunately not enough to spoil it! A die cut gold star and some gold ribbon added the finishing touches.  Do hop on over to the challenge blog to see the lovely creations there.

A Starry Christmas

It's time for the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge. As always it is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Stars.

I used a NBUS stamp from Stampin Up which must be about three years old at least. It was not easy to get a good result even with the Misti. I think this was stamped about four times.

Lots of old stuff used her, a very old A5 card blank cut down to a square and some very old peel-offs as well.

I do hope you will be able to join in, after all it is good to build up the Christmas cards ahead of time so that there's not such a rush in December!

Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge.

Hello again - time for the new challenge at Happy Little Stampers, as always it's Anything Goes but with an optional twist of Stars this month.
Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.
I used a SU set of stamps and dies which have only recently been unwrapped and inked. I stamped the pretty swirl twice, once in silver and once in Coastal Cabana. Then diecut a star from the middle of the card. I overstamped the diecut with the star and stuck it to the inside of the card. It looks really pretty in real life but has been a nightmare to photo!

Hope to see you joining in with us, and do check out all the rest of the team's makes.

Rudolph Day - April

Well I've finally managed to join in with Rudolph day after a couple of month's absence. We're still in the process of finding homes for everything after the extension. Who knew it would be so hard and take so long! However I've had a couple of days of enforced rest, after having two broken teeth roots extracted. The advice leafllet following the surgery said no lifting, bending, sport or exercise for at least 48 hours!  That had to compensate for the very sore jaw! So I've used the time to make a card.

I used a SU set of dies and stamps I bought last winter and hadn't even unwrapped. The sentiment is from one of the new release stamps at Happy Little Stampers. I'm also entering this into:

Stars!

Well I hope you're all enjoying this hor sunny weather we're having in the UK. Unfortunately it results in my craft room becoming like a sauna, so crafting time is a bit limited. Fortunately I have been working well in advance. The new challenge at Cardz for Guyz is Stars.

I inked through a stars stencil in rainbow colours then added a diecut happy Birthday across the front. Be sure to see what the rest of the team have made.

Seeing Stars!

I'm determined this year to enter a few more challenges. When Less is More first started I was a regular there, entering most weeks but just lately it has become very sporadic! So this week I have a card for it -yay! Mind you I made it on Monday and have only just found time to photograph and blog it.

The theme is "Dimennsion". I used embossing paste through a stencil and added a couple of embossed lines top and bottom to edge the panel. Then I added some colour by using a red copic on the stars. With hindsight I think I preferred it all white, but don't think it would have photograhed very well!
I'm also taking this to Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge where the key word is Stencil.
