Corner Pop Up Card

The current Butterfly Challenge is for a corner pop up card. This is not a shape I have tried before and didn't quite get my scorelines lined up properly, but it worked-just!

I used some Calypso Coral card as the base. All the papers are snippets from my scrapbooking. The chipboard flower has been languishing in my stock for a long time. I think it was part of a bundle of scrapbooking items from QVC. The butterflies are again using my favourite butterfly punch from SU. I added three rhinestones to each after colouring them with a black Copic pen.So for this challenge I have used the shape, coral, citron, crimson and camel, but no checks.

Butterfly Birthday

I was delighted to see that I was a top pick in last month's Butterfly Challenge. So of course I had to make a card for this month.
Here is what is required.

I didn't go for the shape this month though, just the diecut, three of the colours and of course the butterfly.

I stamped the butterfly on a snippet of white, and after three attempts got the three part stamping to line up. Now I know when I bought this stamp set I also bought the two sets of dies that went with it. I found one set, but not the one containing the butterfly outline. I have absolutely no idea where it can be. so had to fussy cut it instead. I then brushed the same inks over another scrap of white card but they came out quite pale. I placed the Christmas Bubbles die (unbranded) over the inked card leaving a small border, then inked over the holes to strengthen the colours. I added the butterfly at the "waist" of the die. The butterfly is from SU Watercolor Wings, the sentiment from Clarity Stamps.

Four Panel Card

I decided to have a go at making a four panel card for Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge, as I need to build up my stock of birthday cards. The hardest part of making this was deciding what papers, card etc to use.

Eventually I went with just one paper rather than coordinating ones.

The flowers were die cut from a piece of brusho paper that was lurking in my scraps drawer using a Tim Holtz die set. The sentiment was cut from the same card as the card base and is a Concord and Ninth die set.

These are the snippets I used. The butterflies on the front are a Stampin Up punch. A few rhinestones finished it off.  So for the Butterfly challenge I have followed the card shape, theme and used three of the colours, Forest green, Fuschia (purple) and French Rose (pink)

Birthday and Butterflies

After I had made this card, Twofers announced their current challenge was to use the sentiment as the focal point as well. So I made a more feminine version.

The backing paper was supposed to be a Christmas one but I never thought it looked very Christmassy. However the background is vanilla so it mans I can also enter this over at Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge which is V for vanilla and or vases. I didn't manage a vase though.

Butterfly Challenge

Mrs A's Butterfly challenge is the letter P, to use pink and/or punches. I have managed both and made a very girly anniversary card.

Everything was out of my scraps box except the peel off which looks silver although I coloured it woth a pink Copic marker. The punched butterflies are pink IRL, but the card is some Docrafts pink holographic card which is printed with butterflies. No matter what angle I took the photo at they came out in blues and yellows! The frame was cut with a Spellbinders die a long time ago and is not a die I actually own. I think I must have done it at a card club meeting.

I'm also joining in at Craft your Passion which is always "Anything Goes"

Purple Butterfly

I made this card to use up some bits off my desk. The card base had been cut out at Christmas then not used and the butterfly was left over from the picture here.

The papers are from a colouring book that was free with a magazine, which I colored with copics. The sentiment was also from the colouring book.

Mrs A's butterfly challenge is looking for fancy folds/fuschia, I think this can be classed as a fancy fold and with a bit (lot) of imagination some of the flowers in the background could be fuschias!

Allsorts are asking for purple - so think this qualifies there as well.

Watercolour Wings Birthday

I think I'm a bit like a London bus, nothing for ages then two come along! It's my friend's birthday on Valentine's Day and I always find it difficult to know what to get her. Toiletries are out as she has usually just given me some, and flowers are definitely out as her house always looks like a florists on her birthday!  So this year I decided to have a go at making a picture. When I visited my son last year my DIL had bought a picture which was a row of butterflies in a long white box frame, and at the time I said I could have made it!  I couldn't find a long box frame but instead bought an 8" x 8" one from Hobbycraft.

My first attempt only had 4 butterflies but it looked too naked so decided on 6 . I was really rather pleased with it so hope she likes it!
I'm going to take this over to the Playground as it used up quite a few snippets of white card, and also over to Mrs A's Butterfly challenge where she wants to see inks used.

New Butterfly Challenge!

There's a new challenge in blogland called Butterfly Challenge which has been started by one of the Playground friends - Mrs A.The first challenge is nice and easy -your card must have at least one flower and one butterfly. You'd think being so easy I could have made a card when the challenge opened two weeks ago. Well not quite I did make it last week and it was also for the Dynamic Duos challenge to use yellow and black.

That challenge is long over and I am only just managing to rush  in the door before Mrs A's challenge closes.  I seemed to get a tad busy towards the end of last week!  Anyway my card is quite simple and not quite how it looked in my head!! I cut a mask with the oval framelits to make an oval aperture and then brayered Daffodil Delight in the oval. But it came out very pale and no matter how much ink I added couldn't seem to get it any brighter. Then I stamped the flower from Serene Silhouettes in black and the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri. I added some more yellow to the butterfly with the matching marker, some tiny jewels down it's body plus some more in the corners. I was going to add an acetate butterfly over the top but the ink didn't want to dry and the acetate wasn't heat resistant I discovered!!

I've just noticed I have a new follower as well - welcome Shirley.
