Make My Monday - Birds

Good morning! It's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday and this week the theme is "Birds"

Although I have got other bird stamps I turned once again to my favourite Wetlands stamp. I masked off a rectangle and sponged it with Pool Party and Soft Sky ink. Then repeat stamped the small birds all the way across. I doodled a border around the inked rectangle and added the Thinking of you sentiment. A chocolate chip mat and this card is now on its way to the recipient. Hope he likes it.

The Male Room - Geometric

Its time for a new challenge at The Male Room and the theme is "Geometric". I'm so glad I made this in advance as I haven't been feeling too well for the last few days, that and the fact that my little craft room - and I do mean little- gets the full sun all day so is unbearably hot at the moment, means that my crafting mojo is nil!!

I used the hexagon embossing folder for the background, a strip of Moonlight DSP and some hexagon shapes stamped with Hello Honey and Smoky Slate (which isn't showing up too well on the photo) and punched them out.  The greeting is from Wetlands. The bit that took the longest was trying to decide where to place the hexagons!

Make My Monday - Fairies/Mystical

Its Monday, the start of a new week and time for the new challenge at Make My Monday. The challenge this week is Fairies/Mystical!! After a rummage through my stamps I found some fairy silhouettes which might be Dovecraft or might not!

I masked off the moon then inked over the card with Soft Sky, new Blackberry Bliss and a touch of Wisteria Wonder(about to be retired) to tone it down, the ground was inked with the new  Mossy Meadow. I think this is fast going to become my favourite green! I used brushes but I could have used a brayer or sponges. Then I stamped the leaves and grasses , using first and second generation stamping in black stazon. The fairy was then added and the little sentiment which was lying loose in my stamp box - so no idea what make it is. Hope this looks mystical enough.

Make My Monday - Nature

It's Monday again so it's time for another challenge at Make My Monday, and this week the theme is "Nature" chosen by Fliss. I started off by doing a card with flowers on then changed my mind. Instead I decided to make a sideways stepper card. Originally the card club I go to made these a couple of months ago but I couldn't go at the time so have only just got round to trying one.

It wasn't the easiest shape to photograph and still looks a bit wonky! All the mats were cut on my Cameo! The background to the birds was made by inking an acrylic block and stamping it straight onto the paper. As I'm trying to reduce my paper mountain I also made a matching envelopeusing the envelope punch board.

Recipe:

Cardstock: Whisper White, Soft Suede
DSP: In Color  2011-13 paper stack  - Pool Party (retired)
Ink: Pool Party, Soft Suede
Stamp set: Wetlands
Other: 13/8 square punch (retired)

Wetlands Birthday

As soon as I saw the Wetlands stamp set I knew it would be just perfect fr a card for my eldest son. He is a frequent visitor to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge.  I didn't expect the card to take so long to make though!

The first version also had the goose on in the lower left hand corner but its head went onto the insert and it looked as though it had had its neck cut! (Ready for the pot maybe?) So that got scrapped and version number two started. This  time I stamped the little waders and promptly dropped the stamp straight back down.  Version number three went beautifully till I stamped the grasses and managed to get ink on the edge of the stamp so had two odd looking lines that I couldn't disguise no matter how hard I tried. So here is version four - phew! Now it hasn't photographed very well but there really is a white border all the way round. I stippled Soft Sky ink onto the insert with a stencil brush rather than sponging. The little birds were stamped in black stazon and clear embossed.

Card recipe:
Cardstock: Soft Sky , Whisper White
Ink: Black Stazon, Soft Suede
Stamp set:  Wetlands

Other: Clear embossing powder.
