Less Is More _ Photo Inspiration

It's a long, long time since I last entered the Less Is More challenge. The photo board inspiration caught my eye this week, so decided to have a play.

Somewhere in blogland I had seen this technique of swiping mini ink pads across the card, but I have no idea where it was, but thought I'd try it out. I usd Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold and Squeezed Lemonade ( I was going to call it Lemon Drizzle- you can tell what I'm thinking about!) distress inks. The stamp is from Visible Image and I added some coloured pencil to the petals to enhance them a bit.

Chinese Lanterns

I am pleased to say that my back is feeling much better after a visit to the chiropractor this morning, not totally back to normal but at least I’m not in excruciating pain!

I’m still steering clear of the crafting table though for the time being. I need to be able to participate in the online painting class I’m doing on Friday afternoons.

I made this card a while ago but the colours and Chinese lanterns fit in with the theme over at Stamping Sensations.

The background was one I made when I was having a play with alcohol inks. The Chinese Lantern Stamp is from Lavinia Stamps. I have some in the garden which were very lush and green, masses of leaves but there are only three lanterns, very disappointing. I think it put all its energy into the leaves rather than flowers and fruit. It will be moved this autumn!
Edited: thanks to Brenda I’m also sharing at We Love Chocolate Baroque.

Autumn at Make My Monday

Hello and welcome to a new week and a new challenge at Make My Monday and we would like you to make something with an autumnal feel.

I've been trying to use up some of my previously stamped but unused bits. This one is a digi stamp that I had coloured quite a long time ago. I'm sorry I can't remember what company it's from.

I found two 6x6 papers that went with it and decided to have one at a jaunty angle for a change! Go check out what my teamies have made.

Welcome Autumn!

It's time for a new challenge at Cardz for Galz and our theme is Welcome Autumn. I was sorting through my box of previously stamped images and came across this one which I had coloured in last autumn and not used. So time to reduce the box slightly!

The stamp is from Simon Says Stamp and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up! The background paper is some very subtly patterned 6x6 from my stash. Why not join is with us  - you have two weeks to show us your autumn/fall makes.

Autumn Colours

There's lots of autumn or fall challenges around at the moment and here at Make My Monday we're joining in! We would like to see your makes using autumn colours. I have used yet another NBUS stamp. This time a House Mouse one, and for a change I coloured it using Spectrum Noir blending pencils.

It took quite a while to colour but it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Then I fussy cut him. I stamped the image again on a piece of white card then die cut a square chopping off part of the leaf. I stuck the cut ot image on top so that he looked like he was floating of the edge. The little sprinkles are Champagne Glass - another NBUS item!

Make sure you check out the rest of the inspiration on the challenge blog.

Twofer Challenge - Leaves!

I fully intended entering Darnell's Twofer challenge right at the begining, but you know what they say about good intentions! Now, some nine months later I have actually made two cards for it!! This month it is all about leaves.

My onefer is similar to one I made a few years ago. I have used one of the first stamps I ever bought, no idea what the make is as I have de-wooden blocked it! I stamped it randomly in red, yellow, green and brown, then added Versamark over the whole panel and clear embossed it, so IRL it is really shiny.I mounted that onto some copper mirri card, then stamped and embossed the sentiment in a matching ink.

My twofer has much less stamping. I heat embossed two leaves in gold and fussy cut them out.

After I hadmounted them ont the mat I decided to add a bit of colour with my sponge daubers, it actually looks quite good but not in the photo. So that's my two cards and here they are both together.

Thoughts of Fall/Autumn

Thoughts of Fall or Autumn is the challenge at Cardz for Galz. I used a NBUS stamp set from SSS called Apple of my Pie!
The apples are coloured with Promarkers and a lot of the blending pen. I was actually going to watercolour them but stamped them with the wrong ink on the wrong card, and as I'd done a lot of masking, decided it was easier to change the colouring medium. I think I need a bit of practice though with the shading. I do hope you'll be able to join in with us, and do check out the rest of the inspiration from the DT.
I’d like to enter this as well into Addicted to CAS - Apples

Autumn Colours

Hello there, it's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday and this time it was my turn to choose a theme. I have gone for Autumn Colours.

I have used yet another NBUS item, Totally Trees from Stampin' Up. I picked some nice autumnal shades of yellow and orange, plus a green and burgundy ink. I wrapped some green, red and gold twine around the panel then added a round sentiment ( this was not the original plan, it was to cover up a smudge of ink!) I think the sentiment is an old Woodware set.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the team have made.

Cardz 4 Guyz - Autumn Colours

This week the challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz, chosen by Amy is Autumn or Fall colours.

I had a partly made card in my UFO box with the hardwood background along with some stamped leaves left over from another project. So I put the two together and made a male birthday card for the challenge. Do pop over to the blog and have a look at the inspiration from the other DT members.

Make My Monday - Autumn/Fall Colours

It's my turn again this week to choose the theme for Make My Monday and I chose Autumn/Fall colours.

Nice and easy! I have to say it's my favourite season - love the colours, the slightly misty mornings, smell of bonfires and hopefully sun on the turning leaves!

I used the new Wondrous Wreath stamp set and turned it into an autumn wreath. The background is embossed with the now retired woodgrain EF. It looks a bit distressed but that is how it came out - I think my sandwich may have been a little tight, but it saved me sanding it down! The word is cut from gold card on my Silhouette.

Digitally Sweet Challenge #53

We have another Anything Goes week at Digitally Sweet and this week are sponsored by Cedar Chest Designs. I have used some more photos from our Canada/ New England trip and thought the lovely paper pack " Fall Pumpkins " suited them perfectly as it contained this lovely sheet with all the autumn coloured leaves.

As you can see from the tree in the middle the leaves hadn't changed colour as much as we'd hoped!
