Apple Pie Anyone?

We have a new challenge at Cardz for Guyz and it was my turn to set the challenge. I chose food and or drink. Think it must have been near dinner time when I thought of it!

I found this apple pie stamp from SSS and an apple sticker. A really quick and easy design. I thought the gingham paper could represent a tablecloth!

Do go and visit the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team have made.

What's new?

At Cardz for Galz we are looking for something new. It can be a new to you technique or new stash. I've used some new stamps from the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit.

I stamped the mermaid then masked her off while I brushed distress oxides across the paper using Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio, then spritzed it with water and blotted it  Then I stamped the seaweed and fishes and removed the ink with some water and blotted again. I coloured everything with Copics. If I made it again I would do it all in watercolour as stmping in Memento for the Copics didn't work very well with the Distress oxides and water!

Remember to visit the rest of the DT to see their fabulous makes.

World Book Day

It is my turn to choose the theme for Cardz for Guyz and I chose World Book Day. According to Mr Google it is on April 23rd except for the UK where we seem to do our own thing and have it in March!
I used a set of stamps from Simon says Stamp that were part of a kit a few years ago, They are quite fun to use, but thank goodness for the Misti, and I still managed to get my pile of books floating instead of sitting on the shelf!

Be sure to pop over to the challenge blog to see what my teamies have made!

Easter Cards

It's a beautiful sunny day here today, and warm as well! Just right for some Easter cards. I don't make them as a rule but I've made some to send to my grandsons with some money to buy their Easter present. Chocolate eggs are just too difficult to post, and they get so many anyway that I thought they might prefer to buy themselves something.

I made these from last months Simon Says Stamp kit - I think the egg shaped bunny is so cute. I'm afraid I didn't have an original idea in my head at the time so they are cased from the idea sheet they put in the kit.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and I'll be back on Tuesday with a new card for Cardz 4 Guyz.

Tag it at Cardz 4 Guyz

Welcome to a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz where Amy has chosen  Tag It! I have to admit to not using tags very much. So eventually I decided to add the tag to a card.

I cut out a tag from a die set that came with a magazine and cut off the fancy edge so that it just left a stitched edge, then inked it with some light brown ink. (I think I used crumb cake but can't remember!) I added a paper pieced die cut coffee cup and some coffee bean stickers.  I mounted the tag onto a card blank covered with coffee bean paper. Apart from the tag die all the other elements came from the February Simon Says Stamp kit.

Rudolph Day -July

Well here we are again at another Rudolph Day! Fortunately I had a card already made but not blogged. There has been no crafting done during the last few hot and humid days as my craft room is just unbearable! I made this one a while back when I was on a roll with one of the Simon Says Stamp kits.

I really did like this kit and think I might see if I can get some more of the paper and stickers. Of course glitter was added to make sure it was reasonably festive.

Use Designer Paper in a CAS way!

That is the challenge at Less is More this week. I hadn't really thought of anything to make when the postman arrived with my April Simon Says Kit, which lent itself perfectly to the challenge.

I used one of the stamps and some of the sequins. The paper is snippets from my scrap box so I'm also going over to the Playground to see what everyone is doing there this week.

Rudolph day April

Rudolph Day has come round again! I made another card with the January Simon Says kit.

I made this a little while ago following a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches but missed the challenge date. I think it's one I will use again. Why not join in at ScrappyMo's and builld up your Christmas stash.

Flowery Birthday

The Simon Says Stamp April kit has some very pretty images in it. I made these cards to add to my stash  as I am running very short of birthday cards.

In real life they are much brighter but my camera has made them look a bit wishy washy!

Happy Easter!

Another card using the SSS monthly kit.I think these bunnies are so cute!

I stamped them on some of the papers from the kit and added some white flock to the tail. The sun was stamped with a stamp from a previous kit and the hills are cut with Stitched Slopes and Hills dies.I think they would have shown up better if I'd used two shades of green.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter!

I would like to enter this in the following challenges
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Come Rain or Shine
Addicted to Stamps and More - Anything goes

Rudolph Day - March

Gosh the month's are racing by as here we are at March Rudolph Day already. The Simon Says Stamp January kit was full of wintery images so I used it to create a Christmas card.

It was also my first attempt at a shaker card using the fuse tool. Think I need a bit more practise as it doesn't shake very well!

Freshly Made Sketches

I received my February Simon Says Stamp kit this week and decided to have a play with it using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.
I used some of the paper from the kit with bunnies on and the medium size bunny stamp. The bunnies are really quite cute!

Red White and Blue!

I found a little time to play yesterday and managed to finish a scrap book page and make a card.

I had just received the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit which was perfect for making a card for the Less is More challenge of red, white and blue. There is a cute little die of a yacht in the kit as well but sadly it doesn't match the stamp!

I have been following Jane's blog Onions and Paper for some time  and felt sure that I knew her from quite some time ago as her name was familiar to me. Anyway after she commented on my Rudolph Day post I decided to email her and I was right - we had both belonged to the local machine knitting club a lifetime ago!  So yesterday we met up for coffee at her house which is about a ten minute walk away and spent a pleasant morning chatting and catching up!

A Quartet of Challenges!

I'm sorry the picture looks a bit blurry to me and definitely wonky, I must check the settings on my camera, or maybe it's the photographer!!
I've made this Christmas card to fit four, yes four challenges!
Merry Monday are asking for trees,

Darnell is running her NBUS challenge again and the stamp I used and paper pieced from Simon Says Stamp had never seen ink!

Pixies Snippets Playground  always wants to see snippets used and my little bits of paper are all snippets as is the gold glitter card used fro the star and small"sequins". I did try real ones but didn't like them!

And last but by no means least Rudolph Day over at Scrappymo's.

Less is More - second attempt or first maybe!

My original idea for this week's Less is More challenge was to use this stamp set from Simon Says Stamp which had yet to be inked up.I love reading and books and they make me happy so it was the perfect stamp set!
After I had made it with more layers than originally intended I wasn't sure whether it was CAS enoughso put it to one side and entered the earlier card. Then I thought well I'd made it anyway so I'll give it a go. I'm sure the LIM ladies will tell me if it's not got enough white space.

OLC Love at LIM

This week the ladies at Less is More are asking for a one layer card with the theme of love. I decided to avoid the obvious hearts as Valentine's Day was gone for this year and this is what I came up with after I'd had a browse through my stamps.

The stamps are from Simon Says Stamp. I think if it hadn't been a one layer challenge I would have punched out the little red heart (yes I know I said I was avoiding hearts lol!) - I may still do just that!

Will you be my Valentine?

I only ever send one Valentine card each year so I hadn't intended making one this year as I still had one left over fom a challemge last year! But I was inspired to make one when I received this month's Simon Says kit.  It's also quite unusual for me to make something as soon as get the kit, in fact the January one still hasn't been touched!

I am entering this into Simon Says Wednesday challenge which is Anything Goes, Addicted to Stamps & More is Clean and Simple - not sure whether this fits the criteria so feel free to delete it if it doesn't!

The Male Room - Time

Hello all,it's time for a new challenge over at The Male Room, and this week it is "Time"

I decided to go with coffee time which gave me an opportunity to break open a Simon Says Stamp monthly kit. I think this was the September one which I had only looked at and not played with. I sponged a white card blank with the khaki inkpad from the kit, then randomly stamped a watch in the same colour. The stamp was a magazine freebie from a long time ago!. I paper pieced the coffee mug and added one of the embellishments from the kit as well.

The Male Room - Stars

Welcome to a new challenge at The Male Room where this week the theme is Stars.  I originally coloured these sneakers for the MMM challenge of sport but didn't use them. However, the stars paper from Simon says Stamp coordinated perfectly with them.

I embossed the gold stars using a stencil from SSS which came in the same kit as the paperusing some Dreamweaver embossing paste that was lurking in the back of the cupboard. The star that I have used as a mat was cut using the Stars framelits from SU and the sentiment is also an SU stamp from one of the new Project Life stamp sets. Now do pop over to the challenge blog to see some more fantastic inspiration from the DT and why not let us see what you come up with - just remember it must be for a male!

Casology - Rainbow

The cue word over at Casology this week is "Rainbow" which gave me the perfect opportunity to use this fun stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. It was part of one of their monthly kits and I haven't had the opportunity to play with it till now. So it comes under the heading of NBUS(never before used schtuff!) I coloured the crayons with copics but used SU markers on the word "colour".  I'm so pleased as well that SSS has included both the American and British spelling of "colour" in the set. I am also entering this into Simon Says Wednesday challenge which is Anything Goes and Addicted to Stamps and More which is also Anything Goes.
