Snowy Layout!

I have promised myself that I will do more scrapbooking this year. I haven't done much in the way of paper layouts since the class I went to folded! But I have so many papers and 12 x 12 card to use and I see this as a way of using it and getting photos either out of boxes in the garage or off my computer. With this in mind I looked for some scrapping challenges to inspire me and what better than   "Lasting Memories" Scrapbook Layout challenge (sister site to Digitally Sweet) Fortunately their challenges now stay open for a month as otherwise I would have missed the deadline for this one. The theme was Spring or Winter and I chose to use a photo of the snow we had in January 2010. I can't decide whether I prefer the snow or this relentless rain and wind we're having. My heart goes out to all those people here in the UK who have been flooded and had to leave their homes. Fortunately the only thing that floods here (so far) is my garage and then only when the rain comes down so heavily that the drains can't cope with it. When that happens I have to make sure the freezer is unplugged or else I lose all my electricity as well! I plan on getting some sandbags to put against the inside of the big door to see if that helps.

However, back to the layout, I have used some blue 12 x 12 card (possibly Stampin' Up) a very pretty sheet of foiled paper from Papermania and some pearlised brownish card (DCWV I think).  Some gold spotty washi tape (SU), a last minute addition to break up the brown, glittery thickers alphas, a Martha Stewart snowflake punch  and The Festive Flurry stamp set and matching framelits from SU. I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark then heat embossed them with Pool Party Embossing powder Some stickles and a rhinestone finished it off. The journalling is on the tag underneath the photo.

Tree Decoration

I've just been looking through my files to see if I had anything to show you before Christmas and the onlt thing left was this tree decoration. I'm afraid I've had very little time to create these last couple of weeks - just too much to do before the big day next week. Thankfully I'm just about on top of it now. The mince pies were baked this afternoon!

I made this with the Festive Flurry stamp set and I'm sure you've seen lots of these in blogland too. The colours were midnight muse and silver with a vintage faceted button for the centre. The back is the same as the front so that it doesn't matter if it twists round on the tree.

I doubt whether I'll be posting again till the New Year so I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and happy 2014!

Noel Banner

Well here is the Cherry Cobbler and Pistachio Pudding Banner I promised you. I used the Festive Flurry Stamp set to make the ornaments between the banners and added some Dazzling Diamonds to give a bit of sparkle and a large rhinestone in the centre of each one.

Now I am sure the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed my  deliberate mistake - the "l" is back to front. You'll be pleases to know that I have replaced it before it got hung in my friend's house!

I'm afraid I have been missing on the commenting just lately - mainly because I went away for a long weekend to visit my son and family. So I had lots of " Granny time" with his two gorgeous boys - well they are when they're not being typical boys and annoying each other!! Anyway now I'm home I have a long list of things to do before the big day so my visits to you may well be a bit limited.

Merry Monday Snowflakes

It's been a while since I entered the Merry Monday challenge and when I sat down to make a card for it this was not what I intended! This one sort of came out of nowhere!  But I kind of like it!! As well as snowflakes you had to use blue, silver/grey and white.

I used the Festive Flurry stamp set which had only just arrived. I wasn't going to buy it as I have two previous snowflake sets but then when I saw what other people were making with it I succumbed - again!! It's a very simple card - I stamped the largest snowflake in the centre with Versamark and embossed it with Pool Party. I used the second smallest for the corners and embossed in silver. Then stamped the smallest twice and embossed one in Pool Party and one in Silver. The Pool Party one I fussy cut down so just the middle was used and layered them up in the middle. Finally I added one of the Frosted Finished embellishments for a bit of sparkle. I was surprised at how weighty these are but it still stuck down well.
