New Job

No posts from me for ages, then two in three days! One of my sons changed his job last year and this is the card I made for him. It's been sitting in my drafts since I made, it waiting for me to blog it, and today's the day!

I used large letter dies from Stamping Up and snippets of cardstock in different shades of blue for the letters and mat.

Pretty Flowers!

The challenge at Make My Monday is a colour challenge. We'd like you to use these colours to make your card . You can also use neutrals. I thought the roses lookes so pretty I went with a floral card.

I was wanting to use my new dies from Tim Holtz that have been sitting on my desk for a few weeks, lorals 3 and Garden Greens.

I cut all the flowers out in each of the pinks, then played around with different combinations as I put them together. The frames are a Julie Hickey set of dies. It's not often I use dies as the focal part of my card but I really like how this one turned out.

Use Your Dies

Welcome to the new challenge over at Cardz for Guyz. This time we want you to use your dies. It gave me the perfect reason to use a new die that I bought at the recent Make It Show.

I used an old SU football stamp which I  stamped in black and clear embossed, in the centre of a white panel. I masked off the circle and sponged blue ink through a stencil. I added the die around the football and mounted onto a card blank made from the same blue card. Of course it had to be blue and white as both grandsons and two sons support Chelsea!

Make sure to pop over and see what the rest of the DT have made.

I am also linking this into the Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge.

Cardz for Galz

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is to use dies and or punches. I had just gor hold of the new copy od Diecutting Essentials and decided to have a play with the free die. Somehow it just cried out to me to use it as a silhouette, and I was very tempted to just use it on a plain white card.

But then I found this piece of card that had been sprinkled with brushos and thought it worked quite well behind the bird. The setiment is also diecut and is I think a Joanna Sheen die.

Please go and check out my teamies creations - there are some fab designs.

Flowers and Burlap

Some time ago I bought some flower and leaves dies from Creative Expressions and they have been sitting on my desk waiting to be played with. I also just bought a background burlap stamp made by Justrite . There are lots of challenges around blogland at the moment asking for flowers and I had an idea in my mind to use the burlap stamp with a flower strategically placed on top.  This is sort of what I set out to do but cut the background down, even though I really wanted the frayed edges showing but it was too big for what I wanted to do.

The sentiment doesn't show up enough so will be covered with a banner I think before I use the card. Originally this was going to be for Casology where the cue word is flowers and for Less is More where the theme last week was flowers (but I was too late), so how lucky is it that this week they want us to use dies and my flowers are dies - serendipity I think! And as the diecuts have used up some snippets I'm heading off to the Playground as well. I haven't been for a couple of weeks so it will be good to see what's going on there! It might have photographed better if it didn't match my wall!
