Owl with Balloons!

It's Roy's birthday next weekend and usually I try to make him a card which relates to one of his interests, but I'm running out of ideas!  However he used to collect owls ( not real ones😄) so I thought I'd try a bit of punch art.

I love the owl punch - it's so versatile, so that together with the new balloon punch and matching stamp set formed the basis for my card. I glossy accented the balloons which is why they look a bit cloudy - they didn't photo well!

The good news is that he had a follow up appointment at the rehab unit this morning and they don't want to see him again, as he had made such good progress. There's still a lot of improvement needed but that will only happen over time and if he keeps doing his exercises.

I'm entering this into the Playground as it was made entirely from snippets apart from the card blank.

  1. LOVE this card Sue - and I agree about the owl punch. There are loads of punch art ideas for different ways to use it - but I like it just as you used it! Sweet with the balloons too. Roy will love it I'm sure - and that's great news about hospital. Another milestone passed!

And, it's great to see you in the Playground as well!

  2. It's a lovely card Sue. I use my owl punch a lot too. I like him with those lovely wings and the balloons look really festive.

It's always nice to hear good news. Barbxx

  3. Wahooo . . . great news about Roy. I hope he continues to do well.

The card is a hoot (sorry!). Bound to go down well.

    Hugs, Sarn xxx

  4. Great card for your Hubby and love the owl.
I hate men's cards, no, I hate making cards for men.

  5. First of all, that is such happy news about Roy, Sue! It's been a long journey for both of you and good job to him with the rehab - keep it up and Happy Birthday!! The card you made for him - personalized for his love of owls - is just great!! Oh, and congratulations on winning the prize at Pixie's!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

  6. Good to hear the update on DH's health, and he just must keep up with the rehab exercises. Love this fluffy wing owl, don't think I've seen one with his wings like this before, and I like it very much! Also loved the owl punch combined with the balloons. The G/Accents on the balloon, that you thought looked cloudy, really added a lot of texture, so a good thing! Happy Birthday to Roy. Hope it is an extra special one for him & you as well. TFS Hugs.

  7. Roy's birthday card is right on with his collection of owls and I'm sure he will love the card. But the best news is how well he is doing. You are right that time will take care of a lot but just knowing how far he's come is wonderful. Tell him Happy Birthday and keep up with his rehab.
