NBUS cat!

I had seen this cat stamp in blogland and loved it so found myself one on that well known auction site. Then it sat on my desk uninked for quite a while! Darnell is running her NBUS challenge again so it was the perfect opportunity for it to get inked. Or so I thought! Even with the Misti and repeated  stamping I couldn't get a decent image, the cat's middle just wouldn't stamp.  Eventually I abandoned the Misti and went back to a clear block and managed to get a reasonable image, or at least one I could go with.

Then I sponged distress inks around the cat, a sentiment from Stampin' Up, coloured the flowers, added some WoS to them and some ribbon. Job done, but not sure I'll be using the stamp any time soon!

  6. What a shame about the stamp - did you try and rub a clear versamark over before the black ink as this sometimes helps as does using a spongy mat. That said, it looks fab to me, love the layout.

  7. Well, first of all, Sue, I can see why you wanted kitty. It's a truly beautiful image! And I think you have made her even more beautiful by the inking, ribbon, and sediment! Is it possible for you to stand on the stamp without it moving? I've heard where others have been successful with that to get the middle to press on the paper. Is it wooden? What about microwaving it to remove the rubber from the wood and using your acrylic block? It doesn't speak very well of whoever sold it to you since they must have known it was defective.

Haha, am I a "fix-it" person or what? Sorry. You are prolly so over it by the attempts you already made and I don't blame you! Thank you so much for taking the time to play in my challenge and give it such a nice shoutout! I hope your October plans are going well! Hugs, Darnell

  8. What a shame that you had trouble stamping that beautiful cat. I can see why you wanted it so much. That's an interesting tip from Linby about using Versamark. That is one to remember. Anyway Sue after all your trouble you ended up making a fantastic card. It looks beautiful. Barbxx

  9. This was worth the effort but I feel your frustration! I have some stamps like that. No matter what you do they don't stamp evenly. Your card is beautiful and more special for the added effort!
