I fussy cut the bird out and stuck it to a textured card blank, then added part of a die cut which I colored with some new Sharpie pens I got yesterday in W H Smith as they had them on offer. I really don't need any more pens (sigh!) The sentiment is a peel off colored with the Sharpies.

Peacock Colours for LIM
A couple of weeks ago the challenge at Less is More was Exotic and I set out to make a card for it using this hummingbird stamp from the SU set Picture Perfect. The card never got made because I didn't like any of the ink combinations I used as they all ended up looking muddy! So this week I decided to try again as the recipe is to use Peacock colours which I thought suitable for the hummingbird. This time I was much happier with the finishd image .

This is so pretty. Glad you persevered and had another go. I love the blue shades . Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely to me! particularly all the shades int he bird
ReplyDeleteThese colours really do complement the design, Sue! I am glad you got to make the card in the end - it is a lovely CAS design. Thank you for playing along with us at Less is More this week :)
ReplyDeleteWell DONE! I love the color selection, and I happen to love hummers. We have them at our feeders, but expect they will soon be headed away for the winter. Ours are not such pretty blue (actually sort of a drab green, with a ruby throat...but not brightly colored, even the males). I've seen some this color out in Western Utah, and you've captured their coloration just great. Fantastic design with this SU set, and such a lovely card. It made me happy! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely card, really elegant and beautifully coloured. Congrats on your Sharpie haul too - great find! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More :)
ReplyDeleteThis lovely humming bird card is simply lovely Sue.
ReplyDeleteI have resolved NOT to buy any more pens! So it's no good you telling me Sharpies are on offer at WHSmiths . . . no siree!
Hugs, Sarn xxx

So glad you got to use that pretty hummingbird stamp Sue as the colours suit it perfectly. It is such a pretty card. Had to laugh about the new sharpies and not 'needing' them! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Less is More.
