Happy Birthday Darnell!!!

Happy Birthday Darnell! Hope you're having a brilliant day. If you don't know Darnell you are seriously missing something. She is an avid crafter creating gorgeous cards, a great blogger, always with witty and amusing posts, which brighten up my morning (I usually read them while I'm having breakfast)and a great supporter of us other crafters leaving supportive and friendly comments.

As you will have guessed today is her birthday and crafty bloggers across the globe are going to her birthday party. Bev of Happy Dance is hosting the party with lots of scrummy goodies, and Ardyth has a linky going where we can all link up our birthday cards.

In true Darnell fashion, mine is all NBUS (never before used schtuff). Serendipity came into play as my Simon Says Stamp kit arrived this morning and the contents were just perfect! So here is my card for Darnell

 Hope you like it!

Less is More -Take 2!

Here is the brighter version of the card I made the other day. You can see it HERE.

So a second entry for Less is More. the sentiment was a freebie from, I think Craft Stamper, a long time ago. It is actually in the centre of a circle which I masked off

Casology - Electric

I have followed the Casology challenge for some time but never entered for one reason or another. But when I saw the current challenge cue word was "electric" -

sorry no pun intended - I knew exactly what I wanted to use.

Last month's Simon Says Stamp kit was sitting by my desk, opened but unused and it had the perfect set of stamps in it. originally I was going to mat the layer onto yellow but it didn't look right, then I tried black, which was better, but preferred it with no mat. I should have stopped there but I doodled  some faux stitching round the edge and now I wish I hadn't. Sometimes less is very definitely the way to go! As Simon Says challenge is Anything Goes I'm also going to take this over there as well.

Card for a Superstar!!

On Saturday I got a text message from my son which had a photo of my grandson clutching his certificate and badge for swimming 20 metres. His beaming smile said it all! So I set to and got this card off in the post to him first thing Monday morning.

I used some of the gorgeous backing paper from the March Simon Says Stamp kit and some of the letters that were in it as well.  I cut the frame with the L'il Inkers stitched square dies.

The images are from Whimsy Doodles which I found by doing a quick Google search.

Cool Tortoise!

The card swap this month on The Crafty Cow forum was to use just one colour. I decided on green and used the brilliant tortoise/turtle stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. Now that it's been received I can show it on here

Turtle Smiles

Here is a quick card made with those lovely turtle stamps. I had to place image off centre to hide the bit on the green card which did not emboss !!

Thanks to Heidi!

Weather here really miserable today - damp and grey but look what the postman brought me to brighten it up. A set of gorgeous stamps from Simon Says Stamp - blog candy I won a while backon the Simon Says Blog together with some beautiful Prima flowers in the most gorgeous blue/green shades.

Thank you so much Heidi.

Oriental Family

I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week. They are celebrating the Simon Says Stamp Blog's 1st birthday. they are also having a blog hop on Sunday - why not pop over and see what's going on?

I used the Simon Says Stamp My Family set of stamps - stamped in black then heat embossed and coloured with twinkling H2Os. The flowers on the left are stamped and embossed in blue and red pearl lustre embossing powders, ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment is from Woodware. Originally I scanned this but the flowers didn't show up.

I do wish Blogger would sort out the ongoing problem with the followers gadget as I have terrible problems getting on the Simon Says blogs. Still getting the message that operation is aborted and when I press the back button the page sometimes reloads but then stops me doing anything else until I close Internet Explorer down. So at the moment I'm having to look at some blogs through Firefox!
