Less is More Challenge Week 61

It's quite a while since I did a LIM challenge so thought it was time to enter again. I've only just made it though. The card has been made for a couple of days but I've only just got round to uploading it. The picture is not very good though as it was avery dull day when I took it so had to use the flash which seems to have faded the colours.

I used the stamp set Charming from the Spring Mini catalogue.

Simply Stampin' Colour challenge

The Challenge at Simply Stampin' challenge this week is a colour challenge to use these colours

This is what I came up with.

I used Pennant Parade stamp set and the Petite Pennants punch. The sentiment is from The Happiest Birthday Wishes hostess set.

Cross Stitch Picture

I have been neglecting this blog lately and I have to admit that the last three cards I made that should have been posted on here were sent without me photographing them so had nothing to show. However when I was visiting my grandsons last weekend I did take a photo of a cross stitch picture I had  made the eldest one (and forgotten to photograph). So somewhat belatedly here it is.

I'm still working on a second picture (different subject) for grandson no2. Hopefully it will be ready for Christmas!

Happy Birthday Monica!!

It was my SU upline's birthday on Monday and this is the card I made for her. I had to wait until I was sure she had received it before showing it here.

I used the very pretty Everyday Enchantment papers from SAB - sadly no longer available. The flower was made using Fun Flowers die and mounted on Calypso Coral card embossed with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder.

Sail Away Three

Hello all - hope you're having a great weekend. Here is the last one in the trio of cards.

Quite a large card this time. The base is Naturals Ivory folded in half to make a A5 card. The yacht is stamped on what I thought was  a piece of crumb cake but I think was a piece if the packing card!! in Soft Suede and the edges torn and inked. I mounted this at an angle onto some First edition DSP. I originally cut this out with the Top Note die embossed with the Stripes embossing folder but it didn't look right, so I tore round the edges, crumpled it up added ink over the creases and edges and it looked much better! The final touch was some linen thread wrapped around the Soft Suede mount and an antique brad for embellishment. I think it's always difficult to add embellishments to men's cards - you can't just put a flower or butterfly on. None of these cards have any sentiments - I'll add them as and when I use them. ( I also pricked round the edges of the soft suede mat and the sentiment will have to go on the corner where I went off the straight!!)

Sail Away Two!

I'm scheduling this post(so hope it works) and tomorrow's as I will be on a train on my way to see my two beautiful grandsons. I can't believe that the youngest has just had his 2nd birthday! Time goes much too fast when they're little.

This one was made on a black DL card, with a small piece of DSP from the Mocha Morning Specialty papers. The yachts were stamped in black and the edges inked with Soft Suede.

Sail Away!

It is ages since I last posted due to computer and internet problems but hopefully I've got them all sorted now! On top of that I've been having a problem with my right arm and couldn't even craft!! "Oh no!!" I hear you all say!! That too seems to have righted itself and at last I have been able to play this week. I have made a trio of cards using the Sail Away stamp - perfect for those difficult- to- make male cards. Here's the first one.

I really like this one. Island Indigo  with a little bit of Basic Gray for contrast. Come back tomorrow to see the next one.

Tuesday, 21 February 2012

Hello there. I've spent all afternoon playing! No not cardmaking just prettifying my blog now I've found out how to do it! Do hope you like it.  I have got one card to show you though. We were flying home on Valentine's Day so it's the first time in 11 years that I didn't get roses sent to me!! And I made him feel even more bad about it (lol) as I had sneaked a card for him into my suitcase and here it is.

I used the beautiful stamp set You are Loved from the Spring mini - stamped in real red and baja breeze.Mounted onto red glimmer card also from the spring mini,  added some crystal glaze to the bluebird and a small heart cut out of the glimmer card. The shapes were cut with nesties (non SU I'm afraid!)

Spice Cake

Well hello there - I'm back from a lovely relaxing break on the Red Sea. Although I have to say it wasn't as warm as we expected it to be. They were having "unseasonably cool temperatures" for our first two days - in fact I was cold!! So not much crafting has been done but I do have some cards to show you that I made before we left. These are two thank you cards I made to put in with some orders from very good customers.

I used the lovely Spice Cake papers with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede and a scrap of Pool Party card,  Ruffled Ribbon in Pool Party, Modern Label, Word Window and Scallop Square punches, Charming stamp set and the sentiment is from the hostess set Faith in Nature. Matching envelopes out of the papers completed them.

Simply Stampin’ Challenge Week 43 - Sketch

This week’s challenge is to follow a sketch:

Here is the card I made  for it.
postage punch
I used the lovely Spice Cake papers from the new mini punched with the Postage Stamp punch. The sentiment is from Tiny Tags and added onto the heart stamp from the Perfect Postage stamp set and punched out. The colours are Pool Party and More Mustard layered onto Concord Crush card stock. This is not a combination I would have thought of using but the card was on my desk and I just used it to decide on the layout and quite liked the end result. So a happy accident!
Some of my fellow Passionettes are having a mini blog hop today to showcase the Sale-a- Bration which starts tomorrow. For every £45 spent you earn a gorgeous free item and there are four beautiful stamp sets and a pack of designer paper to choose from. Why not hop over to Monica’s blog and start hopping around. And remember I can take orders from anywhere in the UK.
