Cross Stitch and more Snowy Pics

When I was having a bit of a sort out a little while ago I came across some very old cross stitch kits which I think belonged to my late sister. I did this one and mounted it into an aperture card.

I tlooks like it needs ironing a bit more in the photo but IRL it looks OK.

Now for some more snowy pictures. Those of you who guessed Norway were right but we were actually in the Arctic Circle and got to the most northerly point in Europe. It really didn't feel that cold, even though it was -14°C!

The Cruise continued

Next port of call was Arendal, a very pretty place.

We had just docked and were having breakfast when out of the window I saw all these girls appear. They were forma local school and proceeded to give us a delightful welcome by dancing (in the rain) to music from Frozen. I quickly popped out of the restaurant onto deck to get some photos.

.
After breakfasr we headed into town and a visit to another church,

Both the churches we visited had these ships suspended from the ceiling and are apparently called votive ships.

fter leaving Arendal we sailed Hardangerfjord  to the waterfall Furebergfossen.

Next stop was the small town of Eidfjord.

Unfortunately Roy was suffering from the nasty virus so stayed in the cabin. I had a walk around  before visiting the tourist office to claim tax back on our purchases, and came across a row of knitted trees! Apparently when they first appeared they were so popular that they have been replaced every year.

Our last day was cruising in Lysefjord which was truly spectacular. The photos really don't do it justice.

Next post will be back to crafting.

I'm Back!

Have you missed me? It seems an absolute age since I blogged anything. Actually it is a while as the last two posts were scheduled ones.

It took a while for my hand to be usable and still hurts if I use it too much. It did have quite a good rest though while we enjoyed another cruise, this time to the Norwegian fjords.  We had a great time with good food and some spectacular scenery. The downside was that we both came home with a dreadful cold/cough virus that hunfg around for a good two weeks.

Here's just a few photos.

First port of call was Kristiansand which had a very upmarket Macdonalds.

We visited the cathedral where we were just in time for a free organ recital that is put on every time a cruise ship is in port.
 A welcoming moose!
Sunset as we went on our way to Oslo.
We were really lucky with the weather in Osl, who would have expected it to be 24 degrees! A little wander around and some shopping.

I'll put some more photos in my next post - dont want to send you all to sleep!
