Less is More Challenge - Week 50

Well Christmas and New Year are over - do hope you all had enjoyable ones.

The challenge at Less is More this week is for a "One Layer Card" featuring "Birds".  My first thought was that I didn't think I had any bird stamps but guess what I had some I'd forgotten all about! Then after all that searching used the one that was on my table already. A recent purchase from Little Claire Designs called Henny Penny which has really appealed to me. So here is my card:

Hope you like it. No sentiment yet as I haven't decided whether to use it as aValentine (heart-shaped wing) or a birthday card.

Simply Stamping Challenge 41

The challenge this week is to use these colours: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. After a few failed combinations of putting these colours together I eventually came up with this:

P1000594

The base is whisper white followed by a layer of Pink Pirouette edged with the scallop border punch. The DSP is Pool Party and the cupcakes from the new Create a Cupcake set were stamped with Pool Party for the case and Pink Pirouette toppings. The ribbons and sprinkles were stamped with Lucky Limeade.

Less is More - Week 49

I haven’t done one of these challenges for quite some time and as Christmas is now well and truly out of the way I thought it was time to have another go! The challenge this week is “Predominantly Purple” – definitely not my colour of choice!!

But put my thinking cap on and this is what I came up with. I was also trying to showcase some of the new SU products at the same time!

purple lim

I used Concord Crush cardstock as my base. The white card was dry embossed with polka dots then overstamped with the script stamp and flower from the new Charming stamp set. The sentiment is from Perfect Punches. I decided it definitely needed a butterfly and the only suitable one I had is from a retired set.

Valentine Petal Cone

I made this pretty petal cone ready for Valentine's Day which is not too far away now! I used melon mambo card stock for the cone with black. The two hearts are from the new Perfect Postage stamp set  and punched out with the Postage stamp punch. They were stamped with Melon Mambo to match. I used one of the strips from the Petal Cone die to make the handle and used a hook and loop spot for the hidden closure at one side. I intend to fill it with chocolate hearts nearer the day. I'm going to have a go at making some more of these for Easter using the little rabbit from the same stamp set and filling them with mini eggs.

Passionettes Mini Spring Blog Hop

This is the first time I've taken part in a blog hop so do hope you like what you see! You will have come from
the lovely and talented Monica who has organised this.

I don't normally post scrapbook pages on my blogs but when I saw these new papers and stamps in the Mini Catty they screamed scrapbook at me! I thought the stamps were perfect for embellishments. So this is my first project for the blog hop we're having. I used More Mustard, Baja Breeze Soft Suede and Very Vanilla cardstock, the new Spice Cake papers and Spiced Paisley Stamp sets. The embellishments were coloured with the same colours of markers having been stamped with Soft Suede.

My second project is a birthday card for a friend who's birthday is next week. I know she won't see it as she doesn't look at blogs! Again I use the lovely Spice Cake papers. This time I teamed them with Soft Suede and Baja Breeze cardstock. The base of the card is River Rock but it only shows when the card is folded. I eembossed the Top Note die shape with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The two corner embellishments are cut out of the paper, added some Crumb Cake seam binding and an antique brad. The sentiment was stamped in Baja Breeze and is from anothe new set and punched out with the large oval and scalloped oval punches. Do hope you've enjoyed looking at them and now you should hop over to  see what gorgeous projects Debbie has to show you.

New Home Card

Yesterday I was asked for a "new home" card at short notice ie to be posted today! Fortunately I had still got this month's club stamp kit  from Little Claire sitting on my desk  which was absolutely perfect. So here it is - exactly as the kit said! I love getting my monthly envelope from them!

Cheque Holders

One of my sons wanted money for Christmas to use in the sales and another wanted a magazine subscription. So I came up with these holders to make them a bit more festive than putting them just in an envelope. I used A4 chocolate chip card folded into three  (DL size) and then cut a portion off the upturned part so that the cheque could be seen. I lined the inside pocket with Holly Berry DSP and decorated the front with baubles cut from the same paper using the bauble punch. I added a scalloped oval on the inside to write on. Finally for the magazine subscription I made a Gift Certificate giving the details on my PC. Tomorrow I will show the final Christmas card!
