August Rudolph Day

Can you believe that there are only 3 more Rudolph Days? With today's scorching weather it's hard to believe! I definitely need to up my Christmas card making otherwise I will end up having to buy some!!!

So here's this  month's make.

I dug out some toppers and papers that came with a magazine last Christmas and which I had never used. So a reasonably quick and easy card until I realised I had stuck the topper on upside down, fortunately it peeled off quite easily! Why not join us over at ScrappyMo's to help your Christmas stash.

Dance Like Nobody's watching!

It's my turn to choose the theme for the Make My Monday challenge and I have chosen "Dance" whch I think gives lots of opportunities.

I fell in love with the Shall We dance set of stamps and dies from Mama Elephant when I saw them on a card and had to have them.

I made an inky background for them to be dancing on, don't they look as though they are having fun?
I do hope you'll join in with the fun with us too.

Dragonfly Dreams

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is "Wings". I decided to use a pretty stamp set from SU that I had never inked up and is now retired. My idea was to stamp on a piece of acetate that I has coloured with alcohol inks. I then spent a very frustrating couple of hours trying to get a decent stamped image, but with no success. The stamp obviously has a flaw. The moral of this story is that rather than not inking up new stamps immediately, it actually might be a good idea to test them before adding them to the NBUS mountain!

On to plan two which was to use the matching dies instead. By this time my coloured piece of acetate was all used up and in the bin.

A quick rummage in my bits drawer and I found a piece of brusho coloured background.  I cut an oval out of it to mount my dragonfly on.

Then cut the dragonfly out of purple glitter and silver mirri card. I'll add a sentiment when I use it.

There's lots of inspiration on the challenge blog and hope to see all your lovely makes as well.

Finally....

I've at long last got round to doing some more scrapbooking. After our trip to Australia in 2014 I decided to do a scrapbook of our trip. It started off very well but ground to a halt over the last couple of years. As I've only got a few more pages to do I'm determined to get it finished in the next couple of weeks. Then I can start on the USA/Canada one!

Here's a couple of pages done in the last two days.

Do It Yourself!

There was recently a give away with a magazine of some dies to make a pop up box with tools for the male version. Perfect for this fortnight's challenge at Cardz for Guyz which is DIY.
I sort of followed the instructions to make the card with the box inside.
This is the front using some wood style paper that was from SU an age ago.

And this is the inside with the tools on acetate to pop up.

I have to say that this has been one of the fiddliest and most tim-consuming card I've made in a very long time. I doubt that I'll be making another any time soon! On the plus side it did use up some snippets, so I can take it over to the Playground.

Friendship

When I saw that the new challenge at Make My Monday was Friendship I knew exactly what stamp set I was going to use. It is a retired SU hostess set called Love you Lots. Up to now I had only used the pair of ladybirds on it.

This time I used the sweet hedgehogs. I stamped in Versafine Clair Acorn on some taupe card. Then added a touch of red to liven it up. It is much better in real life than it is in the photo! Hope you'll be able to join in with us.

Jingle Bells at Happy Little Stampers

Hello and welcome to the third challenge of the month at Happy Little Stampers.

As always the challenge is Anything Goes but this month the option is Jingle Bells if you want to do that.

I have had this SU set for some time and don't think I've ever used it. I stamped and embossed the bells with a sparkly gold embossing powder then coloured them in with a water based marker. Instead of adding an oval to the top I diecut a shape out of the backround paper so that it became a frame.
I hope you'll visit the challenge blog for more inspiration and join in the fun as well. Remember it's only 147 days to the big day!

Summer Fun!

Thank you to everyone who entered my Sun,Sea and Sand challenge last week. It was fun looking at all your entries.

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is Summer Fun chosen by Helen. I wasn't really sure wht to make for this. Then while I was browsing through one of my boxes I came across some sheets of stickers that I've had for an age, which filled the bill nicely. I stuck a selection onto a pieceod white card leaving a small border. This was harder than it looks, picking ones to fit!

I mounted the whole thing onto a mat of blue then onto a white card blank. So there you are, now let's see what you make, and don't forget to see what the rest of the team have made.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

It's time for the first of the HLS August challenges.

I got out my Distress Oxides and a NBUS stamp set from Altenew. I smooshed the colours on a craft mat, then picked them up on some watercolour card. They came out a little bit too light so added some depth with a sponge.

I stamped the jellyfish in black for the outline and two shaded of blue. The bubbles are from another NBUS set from Lawn Fawn. I edged the watercolour panel with a blue pen before mounting on blue card. Please go and check out all the rest of the makes from the DT.

Music

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Cardz for Guyz, where we would like to see your cards with anything musical.

After looking through my stamps and not getting any inspiration I decided to have a look at my Cameo files.

I found the musical frameand decided to use that as my basis. Then I had to decide what to put in the middle. Because the frame is quite large I used a 7 x 7 card and anu suitable stamps seemed a bit lost, so I went back to the Cameo. Sticking all those letters on took an age! I would have liked them a little smaller but the Cameo wasn't playing nice if I reduced them.

Don't forget to check out the makes from the rest of the DT and please come and join in.
