Rudolph Day -November 2021

Well this is the last Rudolph Day for this year. How did that happen? Let's hope that next year may be more normal!

I saw the die I have used on the Paper Rose website months ago but for some reason they no longer ship to England. I did contact them but got no reply. So I bought it from Simon Says  Stamp in the USA! Of course having wanted it for so long, once I got it I didn't know what to with it! Eventually I came up with these two cards.

I made the bottom one first but thought it was lacking something but I don't know what. I used some old designer paper on the second card and put a gold mat under the die.

Ruby!

This is the latest pastel painting done in another workshop with Unison Pastels and Emma Colbert. When I started I thought I might be biting off more than I could chew, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as difficult as I had thought it would be.

The reference photo was a picture of Emma's mother's dog - Ruby - which I think is a Maltese Terrier.

This one is now on the wall in my craft room. Actually I think it looks a bit like Di's Dudley!

Lilies

There's not been much card making going on here recently as I have been doing some art workshops and I have so much stuff out there's little room left. So I thought I'd show you some of the pictures I've done - well only the ones that are fit to be seen!

This one was a workshop arranged by Unison Pastels and led by Cathy Pearce. It was only my second time using soft pastels which I love, even though they can be incredibly messy.

In fact I thought I was going to have to buy a new bedroom carpet when I did this one!. The bright orange pastel crumbled and unbeknown to me a tiny bit had got onto my sandals underneath the sole of my foot. Later when I went to shower I walked across a pale green carpet in bare feet - leaving bright orange footprints.Fortunately I managed to get it off with soapy water as I don't think Roy would have been impressed. He did like the picture though and it is now framed and hanging on our bedroom wall.

October Rudolph Day

Only one more Rudolph Day this year after this one! Where has the year gone! This month there is an extra prize for paper piecing as a tribute to Kath of Plain and Simple who sadly died earlier this year.

No paper piecing from me though as I had made my cards in advance.

I used a stamp set and matching dies from Simon Says Stamp that I bought last year! They have been patiently sitting on my desk ever since.
So I made four - two of each design for the grandchildren and grand nieces.

I'm also sharing over at the NBUS challenge as well.

The Unicorn is on it's Way!

I promised you photos of the golf playingUnicorn, so here they are! I'm pleased to say it has been safely delivered to the birthday girl in time for her birthday on Monday.

The unicorn pattern is from Hooked by Kati and the golf club and ball were on Ravelry. I added a loop to the club so that it could go round the unicorn's leg,

A Golf -Playing Unicorn?

No I haven't completely lost it - this is what Roy's great niece has asked for for her birthday! Of course it is impossible to buy such a thing so silly me has set to to crochet one for her ( I must be totally mad!) I'm still working on it but will show it when it's finished. Meanwhile I have made a card. It's been a long time since I took 3 days to make a card.

I found the unicorn and golfing bits on the Silhouette store. I cut all the pieces out in white and then coloured them with Copics. The grass paper has been lurking in my stash for a long time. Once I'd assembled all the pieces and placed on the card I added some stars to the unicorn. As a number of white snippets were used I'm going to share at the Playground. I'm also sharing over at Crafty Creations.

Rudolph Day September Using More Old Stash

It's Rudolph Day time again and thankfully Maureen and family have recovered from their illnesses they had last month. I'm on a bit of a roll using up old stash, so you have not one but six cards from me this month.

They have all been made with a Hunkydory kit that came with a magazine a couple of years ago. It's a good way to boost my Christmas card stash quickly !

More Old Stash

This time I have used an old Hunkydory kit which I think was a magazine freebie. I have to say I have quite enjoyed making these and it has certainly added to my Christmas quota.

I'm sharing the first card with Craftyhazelnut's Christmas challenge and  the second one at The Holly and Ivy Christmas challenge. I made these before we went on a short cruise. It was really nice to be able to get on board again and the whole thing felt very safe with all the Covid protocols in place and testing before we could board. That was a bit stressful though waiting for the results to come through. We went with P&O for the first time on their new ship Iona. It is huge but a beautiful ship. It was sailing with only half capacity, but still seemed quite busy. I definitely won't be sailing on her at full capacity which is approx 5200 bodies!

Using Old Stash

I've been trying to get a few Christmas cards made so that I don't have a sudden panic in December. I'm also trying to get rid of (use) some of my very old stash. The following cards are all made from bits from a very old Kanban kit from QVC!

I'm sharing the bottom  card at The Holly and Ivy Christmas challenge. I'm on a bit of a roll with these so  there will be more old stash cards coming up!

Christmas Bauble

I finally succumbed and bought the Sweet Poppy Bauble stencil. Another NBUs make as this is the first time I have used it. I had a couple of false starts with colours that didn't work for me. The final version ended up being inked with Iced Spruce Distress Ink.

Rather than put an image in the middle of the bauble I decided on just a sentiment, which I stamped in gold. I'm sharing this over at CAS Christmas and NBUS challenge.
