Rudolph Day April

I've got a recycled card for Rudolph Day this month. I made the original card two years ago and had it written ready to post when Roy became ill so it never got sent. It seemed a shame to just bin it but couldn't send it this year with his name on!

So I cut the front off and trimmed it down, then added it to a DL card blank. I coloured some silver peeloff borders with a red copic to edge it. Job done.

Yellow Tulips

Another tulip card using up the last of the ones I cut out the other day. This time I made them yellow!

I used another new Penny Black die as a background for them. I think it might have looked better if I'd raised it up a little with some foam tape. The sentiment is the same one I used before but inked with Rustic Wilderness this time.

Springtime Tulips

I recently succumbed to some crafting retail therapy and among my purchases were some stamps and dies from Penny Black.
My first make with them used the Tulip Quartet dies.

Although I cut out all four I have only used two on this card. They were cut out of a cream snippet and coloured with Copics. The trellis for the background was another of my new purchases and is part of theDaffodils stamp set. I used Distress Oxide ink inFrayed Burlap for the trellis and sentiment, which is from Uniko.

Beery Birthdays!

I have two male birthdays very close together in April, so it was easiest to make two similar cards.

I used a Globeland set of stamps and dies that I bought some time before Christmas and which have been sitting on my desk crying out “use me!” I coloured the images with copics. I think the dies used for the mats are Memory Box but I’m not sure. Images and mats are all cut out of snippets.

This is the second one.

Rudolph Day March

This has to be the easiest, quickest and laziest card I've ever made! while i was looking through my box of card blanks I came across a leftover Hunkydory Card blank. It seemed asheme to just put it back in the box so decided I could use it for Rudolph Day

I added a couple of snowflakes that were languishing in the embellishments box, a ready made sentiment that was also a leftover and a little silver bell to the top of his cap.

Rudolph Day February 2026

Well I've just noticed my last post was for Rudolph Day last October! Motivation has been at zero. I had very little all last year and it completely disappeared both before and after my back op. Hopefully I'm beginning to regain some as I have done two paintings as well in the last couple of weeks.

I used one of the stamps from Stampers Anonymous Festive Collage collection which I won last year from the Allsorts Challenge. Stamped in Rustic Wilderness and coloured the berries with a red copic pen to add a bit of colour. The background paper is I think an old SU paper. I was going to ink round the edges of the stamp panel but I decided against it as I rather liked the cleaner look.

Rudolph Day October

It's that time of the month again! October Rudolph Day is here, only one more before the Big Day, Not sure where this year has gone! Here's my card.

I used a NBUS die which I think probably came from a magazine, but I'm not sure,I've used it as if it is a sprig of mistletoe but the leaves don't look like mistletoe to me, so you'll have to imagine they do! I coloured the leaves with Copics the added aome white Nuvo drops to the berries with a little bit of a sparkly stickles as well. Then I wasn't sure what to do with it and tried several ideas, none of which I really liked. Eventually I thought about embossing folders and had a rummage through looking for something Christmassy. This one popped out and again I think from a magazine and definitely another NBUS item. I was quite pleased with the finished result - don't know why I don't use embossing folders more often.

Camping at 50!

My middle son recently bought a van which he is slowly converting to a camper van so they can have weekends away without spending on hotels. It was also his 50th birthday last month so I made him a hopefully suitable card.

The background was printed from  Craft Artist Daisy Trail Pin Up Chic collection. The image is from Dr Digi coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I used a speed limit sign for his age.

Kokeshi Doll

It's Roy's great niece's 12th birthday soon. For the last few years she has been very into unicorns but I'm running out of ideas for unicorn cards now, so asked her Mum what her current obsession was. Apparently it is still unicorns but also all things Japanese and Korean! So when I saw this Spellbinders die set of Kokeshi Dolls I had to buy it. It was a bit fiddly to put together but also quite fun.

I use a Globeland stencil for the backgound with Distress Inks, and of course it was perfect for using up a lot of snippets.
Of  course I made things more difficult for me by only having about six square inches to work on, see my desk below!

September Rudolph Day

Well I've been MIA again and completely missed last month's Rudolph Day, but I have managed a card for this month!

I managed to go on a cruise to Iceland in July, which had been on our list of to do cruises, which was enjoyable but a bit strange being on my own. I think it hit me more though when I got back and couldn't find much motivation to do anything. Fortunately the Art Society had an exhibition in August so as I'm treasurer I had to get off my backside and do things! I've only just finished sorting all the sales and accounts out so now have a bit of time to try and get back to creating!

Anyway here's my card, nothing very exciting though. I used a Penny Black Masterpiece made simple from the Winter Dreams collection and added a pale blue sparkly frame. The sentiment is a very old peel off.

July Rudolph Day

I am delighted to say that I have been asked to be a guest designer at Rudolph Days Challenge this month.

For my card I have used the last of the toppers that I made on Craft Artist.

As I had printed out more than one sheet I spent some time fussy cutting the snowman out and decoupaging him. Although it doesn't show up in the photo, he has been liberally "winked"!
Do come and join in the fun, I'm looking forward to seeing all your creations!

June Rudolph Day

This is just going to be a short post as a) I'm a bit busy and b) my room is like a sauna! I have used another of the toppers I created last year in Craft Artist.

Although it doesn't show very well the snowflakes have all been done with Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. The mat is Pool Party. Some of the others I matted with navy card. Alogether I made six of this design.

Golfing Unicorn!!!

I made this card last year for Roy's great-niece's birthday. She has been unicorn mad for a few years now and I've made her one or two items in the past. You can see them  here and here. She's also a keen golfer.

Not surprisingly there are no stamps, digital or otherwise that I could find that would fulfill this criteria. So I turned to AI and asked it to create a "golfing unicorn" After a few tweaks this is what I ended up with. I'm really hoping her likes will have changed by the time it's her birthday this year. Meanwhile I have been waiting for a suitable challenge to enter it in, and this week The Paper Shelter has just the thing!

Rudolph Day- May

While Roy was ill last year and time was taken up with hospital visits I realised that I wasn't going to have much time to spend making Christmas cards. So I went for a very easy option of designing some card toppers in Craft Artist and printed a lot out.
However events overtook me and no cards were made and very few sent out. So I am left  with a fair few sheets of toppers.
Time to start to use some of them up. If I start now I might have used them all by Christmas!

This was the first design. As there are two to a page I was able to cut them both out at the same time using two Crealies square dies. Mounted them both onto a piece of red card and then onto a white card blank. So two down and only another six of this design to go!

Snippets Win - A Year ago!

I can't believe it's over a year ago that I won this stamp at the Snippets Playground and made this card which has been sitting in my drafts ever since!
Time for the world to see it!

As far as I can recall, because it is a long time ago, I smudged some inks over a piece of white card, indigo blue, pool party and crushed curry, then randomly stamped the words on top. Then stamped the flower three times after stamping off first. I stamped the flower again on a piece of scrap card fussy cut it out and placed it over the centre flower. The square was matted onto another snippet of pool party card and a strip of crushed curry card went underneath it. The stamp is from Aall & Create.

Z Fold Card in Blues

My card making skills are decidely rusty after my break! It took me two days to make this card! I needed a birthday card for Roy's niece and although I have a few ready made ones, none seemed quite right.

Then I decided to make a Z fold card and it is years since I made one. It took forever to find a paper to go with the flowery pieces which came out of the snippets drawer. Eventually I found a 6x6 piece which was only just big enough to cut all the required pieces out of. The butterflies were cut from the Gummiapian die included in the Easter calendar. I painted them with H2Os, again not used in ages. I picked three colours and randomly dropped them onto the diecuts.  They are quite sparkly in real life. A sentiment and some dots completed it.

Rudolph Day April 2025

I'm still not doing much in the way of crafting or painting, but decided I really wanted to enter the Rudolph Day Challenge, even though I feel guilty at not doing something on my 3 page to do list! Maybe I'll add this to it then I can cross it off as being done!

When Christmas card making came to an abrupt stop last year I had various bits prepped ready to make into cards. This was some decoupage from my very old stash that I had made up so it was ready to go.

I added some red mirri card and cut the sentiment from the same card. Instead of placing the image in the centre as I usually do, I offset it.

Rudolph Day March 2025

I'm still working through my stash but it does seem to be bottomless! For this card I used an A5 card blank, not a size I use very often.

The paper is a magazine freebie from a few years ago. While I was looking through one of my boxes I found some sticker sheets from an old Simon Says monthly kit. A few of those added and a red mat and hey presto another card made.

Big Birthday Wishes

I've got two male birthdays in April so I made two cards using the same die. The first one used the letters cut from a snippet of red cardstock. Sorry - I forgot to photo the snippets as I wasn't sure what I was going to make. The cards sort of evolved as I went along! I mounted them onto a piece of 6 x 6 paper, the dots were very usful for lining up the letters! It looked a bit plain so I printed off some embellishments from Craft Artist and cut them out.

The second card used the negative of the die cut. Again mounted onto some 6x6 paper. I had to cut the A out twice as I lost the tiny middle.

Challenges:

Snippets Playground- 2 red card snippets, onr for the die and one for the mat.

Darts for Grandson

Apparently my youngest grandson has found a new interest - darts! His birthday list consisted of all dart related items. So of course that became my theme for his card.  I used an aperture card from my stash and printed off a piece od paper that vaguely looked like a dart board. The image is from Dr Digi and was coloured with Copics then fussy cut.

The dartboard stamp is from a magazine freebie. It hasn't stamped terrible well on the linen card, but I'm sure there will be no objections especially as there's a cheque inside!

Challenges:
NBUS - dartboard stamp and digital stamp.
