Two Quick Birthday Cards

Yesterday I had to make two very quick cards for posting in the afternoon. I was only asked to make them the night before! The first was for a 40th birthday so I used some decoupage that I had bought back at the Make it Show in Farnborough for just such an occasion! The lettering was made using my Cricut.

The second was for a 1st birthday so as I had some Tatty Teddy things on my table used those.

Meerkats!

Well I'm back from holiday now and all the washing done! So thought I'd upload a card I made before I went away.. I made it for my BIL's birthday and as he is very fond of meerkats I thought this image from Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew cd was just perfect. The backing paper was from there as well. The border /ribbon is a Martha Stewart punch.

Birthday Card

At last I can show you this card which I made for a friend's birthday . I had to wait till quite some time afterwards as she didn't open any of her cards on the day.  Instead she had an "official" birthday a week later after her son got back from holiday! I used the very pretty stamp set "Butterfly Tree" from Little Claire Designs and coloured it with the new Letraset Flexmarkers. The paper is from Docrafts Me to You range. I hope you like it.

The Story Begins

For some time now I've been buying from Stampin Up supplies from the lovely Monica and have finally decided to sign up as a demo myself. Just waiting for her to come back from holiday to finalise all the details, but I'm already thinking of projects. Here is a card I've made with some of the things I've already bought.

I used some paper from the mini catalogue , baby Blossoms stamp set with crumb cake and bravo burgundy ink and crumb cake seam binding.

The End Result!!

Thought I should show you the end result of the previous card. As you know I had trouble putting a sentiment on and eventually redid the image and left the sentiment off. Well the first attempt was on the back of the finished one! now obviously i could not use it like that so cut it down and matted and layered it onto gold paper and aclean white card and here is the finished result. Well I couldn't waste it - could I?

Less is More Week 28 - One layer Card

I can't believe it's over a month since I last blogged and nearly as long since I made a card!! Not sure what else I was doing apart from one weekend when family was here and I was busy with two young grandchildren! Anyway this week I have managed to make a card for the Less is More Challenge - which this week is a one layer card using inks. Sounds easy doesn't it?  decided what to do and all went well till I added a sentiment and then it just lookes a mess. None of my stamps seemed to have the right message or were small and neat enough. So started again and left the sentiment off!

I cut a rectangle out of a piece of copy paper then sponged through the hole with distress inks- added the image stamped with black then drew a freehand border in gold.

Another with Legs!

After doing the cats I decided to use another stamp that has never been inked! This time I chose a cream DL card as it seemed to suit the image! The stamp is from a Creative Expressions set and again I coloured it with Aquamarkers.

Less is More Week 23 - One layer Card

The challenge at Less is More this week is another one layer card but it has to be something with legs! I decided to go with this Woodware stamp that I have had for ages and only used once before. I stamped him across the bottom of the card and continuing round to the back.

Then I coloured him with Aquamarkers so that the colours wouldn't bleed through. And finally added a sentiment from the same stamp set.

Less is More Week 22 - Shades of Blue

When I saw that the challenge this week was Shades of Blue I thought it would be quite easy. Wrong !! I tried all sorts of stamped images and none of them seemed quite right so in the end I went for three shades of blue card and punched them using a Martha Stewart punch then layered them up. Stamped  Best wishes in blue and added a dark blue butterfly. That should have been the finished card but somehow I'd managed to smudge some blue ink in the bottom corner so covered that with another butterfly, then had to add another at the top to balance it! So not quite as much "white space" as I'd intended!

Little Claire' s Designs Challenge 10 Pink and Brown

Litle Claire's Designs challenge is to use pink and brown. I covered a card blank with a pearlised textured brown card. On top of this I layered a patterned paper from K & Co and punched the top and bottom edge with a Martha Stewart punch. I added a strip of the brown card, which was also punched on the edges, across the centre and another narrow strip of the paper down the middle. I used the Little Claire's gerbera stamp from the June monthly kit and added it to a circle of brown cut with nestabilities. The image was coloured with Copics.
