Golden Wedding Anniversary

One of my friends recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.  This is the card I made for her and also for the challenge at Make My Monday which is Numbers. She really timed her anniversary perfectly!

I heat embossed everything on the card with gold embossing powder and actually finished the pot I bought back in 2007 when I started cardmaking! All the stamps and dies are from Stampin Up. I die cut the numbers twice, once in plain white and stuck them together so they were raised up a bit more. Then added a gold mat.

Fancy Folds

It's my turn to choose the challenge at Cardz for Galz for the next two weeks, and i have gone for Fancy Folds. I wanted to have a go at making a Twisted Gatefold Card that I had seen on Pinterest.

It used up some of my huge pile of 6x6 papers!  Minimal stamping, some fussy cutting and WOS, completed the card.

It is not very easy to photograph though which is why you see my fingers holding it shut! I hope you'll be able to join us with your fancy folds.

Triangles!

I pondered on this theme at Cardz for Guyz for a little while as nothing came to mind for triangles. Then I did a search  on Pinterest and there were so  any ideas to choose from, but it jogged my memory that I had the Christmas tree punch. Then when I searched through some old papers I found this piece with triangles - Yay!! So a card was born.

I punched each tree out twice, once in the paper and once in card to stick behind to make them firmer. A diecut sentiment and a red snowflake were the fnishing touches. As ever there's lots of inspiration on the challenge blog from the rest of the DT.

Star of Wonder!

It's time for the new Christmas challenge at Happy Little Stampers and as always it's Anything Goes with an optional twist.

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE. IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

Now I have a drawerful of ribbon but very rarely use it on cards or indeed anything else! So today I have used some retired Stampin Up ribbon which was not very card friendly in my opinion. Too chunky to tie and also for tucking under the card, so Ive managed to use a couple of inches!

The image is a LC Designs stamp that is now quite old but definitely NBUS! Make sure you check out my teamies makes.

Animals!

I have had this Penny Black wooden stamp for ages and it has only ever been inked up by me once before. A friend did borrow it to make a card for her son who was sheep mad at the time.  So thought it was time to give it another airing as the new challenge at Make My Monday is Animals.

I did just a little bit of shading with a pale grey Copic on the sheep. The yellow mats and butterflies are from a piece in my scrap box, and the paper was another sheet used up from my box of 6x6 papers! As always there's lots of inspiration from my teamies. Also popping over to see who’s playing in the Playground and whether Parsnip is being kind to Dudley!

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

Here I am with my card for the first of the October Happy Little Stampers Challenges.

I embossed the flowers and sentiment from the Doodled Flowers set with gold embossing powder on watercolour paper. Then coloured them with my Gansai watercolours using some nice bright colors. I was quite pleased with the finished result, but they are reminding me of slices of citrus fruit!

There's lots more inspiration on the challenge blog.

What's new?

At Cardz for Galz we are looking for something new. It can be a new to you technique or new stash. I've used some new stamps from the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit.

I stamped the mermaid then masked her off while I brushed distress oxides across the paper using Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio, then spritzed it with water and blotted it  Then I stamped the seaweed and fishes and removed the ink with some water and blotted again. I coloured everything with Copics. If I made it again I would do it all in watercolour as stmping in Memento for the Copics didn't work very well with the Distress oxides and water!

Remember to visit the rest of the DT to see their fabulous makes.

Rudolph Day- September

Oh my goodness only two more Rudolph Days till the Day itself! How did that happen?

I have used a Stamplorations stamp that I've just got my hands on- Poinsettia Row -Artsy Borders. I've gone for the CAS look and simply stamped it in Versamark and embossed it with gold. I cut it and the gold mat, out with the Sue Wilson Noble rectangles dies. I do like the pinhole effects but I find the sizes very odd, they don't tie up with UK sizes ie A6 or US A2 sizes. The gold mat measures 5.5 x 4.5 inches, so Ive had to cut down a 6 x 6 card to fit. Finding a suitable envelope might be tricky!

Autumn Leaves

It is my turn to set the challenge at Cardz for Guyz and in line with lots of other challenges I have chosen a seasonal theme - Autumn Leaves.

To make my card, I masked off a rectangle and brushed Delightful Dijon ink over it. When I was happy with the coverage I stamped the sentiment from Uniko - another NBUS - which stamped beautifully. I did use the Misti so that I could ensure it was dark enough. Then I stamped random leaves from the SSS set Apple of my Pie in browns, green, orange and dark red, before moving the masking tape. So a one layer card which I used to hate making, but though I say it myself, I do rather like this one!

There's lots more inspiration on the challenge blog, so please pop over and see what the rest of the DT have made.

Less is More - OLC Floral

It has been absolutely ages since I played at Less is More but as soon as I saw what the current challenge was I knew exactly what to do. I have taken inspiration from my duvet cover!

Unfortunately the card blank I used was very porous so the inky square is not as even as I would have liked.
