Rudolph Day April 2022

Once again it's time for Rudolph Day. This time I have taken ispiration from a number of posts where a shadow box die has been used. Amongst my stash of NBUS I had this Paper Rose die and thought it could be used in a similar way.

In my other stash I have a pad of Christmas paper with Scandinavian designs that I seem to find difficulty in using. Ithink it's the colours that throw me! So I cut a frame in cream to tone with the papers and then cut strips from two sheets and positioned them in the cut outs. The frame is a perfect fit for a DL card. A fairly simple design but a bit fiddly getting the papers just where I wanted them.

Challenges entered:
Snippets Playground - the frame was a snippet and I've now got snippets of the papers!

A Masterpiece for Rudolph!

No not one of mine(lol)! I recently saw a post from Miss Di using the Penny Black Materpieces made Simple toppers which inspired me to get some. The title of them is very apt as they do make simple cards that really are very nice.

I chose to use a pale blue card with a shimmery gold mat. Very simple. The hardest part was finding a rectangle die that was the same proportions - this was the best out of the many I've got - but is still not quite right. The sentiment was just stamped with gold ink., and I added some Wink of Stella to the snowy bits for a bit of sparkle.

Rudolph Day - February 2022

Well it's time for the second Rudolph Day of the year. Rummaging through my drawer of unfinished bits I found some pre-printed stamped toppers from SSS that had come in some of their kits. This was the first one I found and as my watercolour paints were still on my desk from a painting workshop I decided to use them to colour it.
I then simply mounted it onto a red card blank and added some red twine.

The second one is also watercoloured but is not my favourite! And the paint looks very blotchy in the photo but not IRL.

I'm Back!

Well it's been quite a while since I posted anything! First of all we went on a cruise over Christmas, which was great even with Covid measures in place. Then after we got back had paperwork to do, dental visits, and setting up a new computer plus reformating the old one for Roy. Then I had to help son with his tax return, Today I have managed to make a card for two challenges - hooray!

It is fairly simple though. I heat embossed the Woodware stamp in gold then mounted it on gold mirri card.

Rudolph Day -November 2021

Well this is the last Rudolph Day for this year. How did that happen? Let's hope that next year may be more normal!

I saw the die I have used on the Paper Rose website months ago but for some reason they no longer ship to England. I did contact them but got no reply. So I bought it from Simon Says  Stamp in the USA! Of course having wanted it for so long, once I got it I didn't know what to with it! Eventually I came up with these two cards.

I made the bottom one first but thought it was lacking something but I don't know what. I used some old designer paper on the second card and put a gold mat under the die.

I'm also sharing at:

Pixies Playground - snippets were used!

October Rudolph Day

Only one more Rudolph Day this year after this one! Where has the year gone! This month there is an extra prize for paper piecing as a tribute to Kath of Plain and Simple who sadly died earlier this year.

No paper piecing from me though as I had made my cards in advance.

I used a stamp set and matching dies from Simon Says Stamp that I bought last year! They have been patiently sitting on my desk ever since.
So I made four - two of each design for the grandchildren and grand nieces.

I'm also sharing over at the NBUS challenge as well.

Rudolph Day September Using More Old Stash

It's Rudolph Day time again and thankfully Maureen and family have recovered from their illnesses they had last month. I'm on a bit of a roll using up old stash, so you have not one but six cards from me this month.

They have all been made with a Hunkydory kit that came with a magazine a couple of years ago. It's a good way to boost my Christmas card stash quickly !

Rudolph Day June

Thank goodness it's a bit cooler her so I was able tospend a pleasnt afternoon making a card for Rudolph Day while Roy hosted the monthly meeting of the local branch of the British Model Soldier Society. he van no longer paint them as he is unable to manipulate the paintbrush with the arthritis in his hands, so every so often I get the job!!!! Here is a photo of one of the ones I am currently doing. The background is my SU grid paper showing centimetres.

Anyway onto more interesting things like cards. I have used a NBUS stamp that I bought last September and which has been sitting on my desk ever since.

The die is from an old SU set and is the only Christmas one I have that fitted the space. I'm going to share this at the NBUS challenge as well.

June Rudolph Day

Its Rudolph Day again at Scrappymo’s, only 5 more to go before the big day! So if you haven’t made a start yet on those Christmas cards, maybe you should start!

I used a new stamp from Chocolate Baroque which I thought would make a quick and easy card. Wrong! Eventually I stamped in red and clear embossed it as it looked too flat just stamped.I found some matching red card for a mat and mounted it on a large square card. The matching bow is some old SU ribbon, added to hide where the stamp missed a bit. The sentiment is a PaperRose die.  I’m also sharing at NBUS challenge and Pixies Playground even though my snippets (the card I stamped on and the mat) are rather large!

Rudolph Day - May

I'm not sure where the month has gone but it's time for Rudolph Day again! Normally I have a card made well in advance but not this month!  I  have used a NBUS Woodware stamp that I won in the mega Christmas Draw at Pixies Crafty Playground. Thank you Di.

I stamped the image in  black and heat embossed it on  watercolour card as I have a lot of offcuts lying around from my painting classes. I coloured it with Derwent Graphitint watercolours, then added a slimline scalloped frame from Simon Says Stamp ( another snippet and NBUS) so I'm also sharing this at Pixies Playground and the NBUS challenge.

Rudolph Day April

Rudolph Day is here again! I’m sure it comes round faster each month!  I was going through some of my old magazines and came across a Joanna Sheen one with Thomas Kinkade images, so decided it was time to use at least one of them.

My design is very loosely based on one in the magazine. The image is decoupaged and fits inside the embossed frame that also came with the magazine. I mounted this onto some very old Kanban card and placed it at a jaunty angle. Some sequins and a peel off sentiment finished the card. I’m afraid I’m a bit behind with commenting. I bought a new iPad and list access to Bloglovin for a couple of days until I managed to get it sorted.

Rudolph Day April

Thank you all for your good wishes and comments on my post about lack of making. But without further ado its time for another Rudolph Day!

I used a NBUS Tim Holtz Stamp Set that fell into my basket last September! The border is a Penny Black die.

Now that the meds have kicked in I am able to do a lot more but do still have to pace myself. It’s easy to  overdo things!

Rudolph Day February

I originally made this card with the intention of entering it into both Rudolph Day and Cas Christmas challenge. But then found when I went to post it that I was too late, and I'm nearly too late for Rudolph as well. This short month has really caught me out!

I love this Little Claire Designs stamp, sadly they are no longer trading. It makes such perfect cas cards. I'm also going to share at Addicted to Cas, where the theme is Animals.

Rudolph Day January 2021

Here we are at the first Rudolph Day of 2021. An excellent way of getting ahead with those Christmas cards.

Just before last Christmas I did a watercolour workshop and the last project was to paint a robin. After I had done mine I photographed it then took it into Craft Artist. I added some holly and a Merry Christmas sentiment then printed it onto glossy paper and put it on a white card blank. I think I’ll be making a few more of these when it gets nearer Christmas

Last Rudolph Day of 2020

Well here we are at the last Rudolph day of 2020 - how did that happen? Despite spending about half of it in lockdown it seems to have flown past. Let's hope next year will be better.

My card is just one of a batch of eight that I made using a kit from a magazine that must be about two years old and had been languishing at the bottom of a box.

Each one is different and although my photography skills leave a bit to be desired it is in fact a 3D box card, which folds flat to fit a standard sized envelope.

Rudolph Day October

I'm a bit later posting for Rudoph Day than I expected. First the internet went, then when I got it back I got a migraine!

Anyway I'm here now and with time to spare.I decided to do a card on Craft Artist so that if I run short it will be easy to replicate a few! I printed the image off on textured cardstock then matted it onto a piece of dark red.

Holly for Rudolph

I made these cards a little while ago ready for Rudolph Day. I was using up some bits of decoupage out of my bits box.

So they are all easy peasy and very quick but it's another three for my Christmas stash!

Tuesday 25 August 2020

August Rudolph Day

It's Rudolph Day aagain over at ScrappyMo's. Only 3 more to go before the big day! Sorry didn't mean to frighten you!

I made this card following a sketch I found recently on another challenge site, but bythe time I'd finished them the challenge was long over. I thought it was a useful sketch for using up some patterned papers, especially these Nordic style ones, which I have found difficult to use as the colours don't seem right to me. A bit dull!

So I made two.

Rudolph Day July

A new card this month instead of an upcycled one for Rudolph Day. I really like this image of a reindeer head, a freebie with a magazine last year.

This time I stamped and heat embossed in gold tp produce a simple one layer card. I was going to add some splatters but decided against it in case I just made a mess! This is also my second  entry at Less is More and I'm also sharing at Stamping Sensations.

June Rudolph Day

Well it’s certainly not Christmas weather here - absolutely scorching - and unfortunately bringing out all the idiots, as could be seen on Bournemouth beach yesterday. I’ll stop the rant now as it is making me so angry and get on to nicer things like card making.

I fished this ATC out of my bits box. It was made 3 years ago for the HLS retreat (3years ago? Really?)

I mounted it onto some pretty snowflake paper and added some red sequins. Another quick card for the Rudolph Day Challenge.
