Waratah

The first challenge of the month at Happy Little Stampers if the watercolour challenge which starts today( tomorrow if you're in the UK!) I was originally going to do some layered watercolouring but it turned out a horrible mess. I also thought about doing a card with chickens on but decided against it! I went down a more traditional route of card layers.

As it is an Aussie challenge I thought it would be nice to use this lovely Aussie flowerr stamp from Paper Rose. I think it's called a Waratah, we certainly saw a lot of them when we were there. Watercoloured with SU markers and a few matching splots on the background using the air spray thingy that the pen goes into. Please do check out all the other fabulous makes on the challenge blog , and hope to see you joining in.

A Watercolour Daffodil and Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!

I have had this lovely Uniko daffodil stamp for at least a year and never used it, so the new challenge at Happy Little Stampers is the perfect time to use it as it falls on St David's Day! Alright so I am a little early but that's because of the time difference!

I blended yellow, orange and lime green ink with blender brushes to make the background, then used the same colours and a water brush to colour in the flower. It is quite a large flower so I have ended up with a 7"x7" card.

HLS Watercolour Challenge

My goodness can you believe that we are already onto our second challenge of the year!

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com/

I went with the option of bling as I thought this stamp lent itself to it. Once again it was a magazine freebie. I stamped the background with parts of the stamp before stamping and fussy cuttig the main image.

I used Zig Clean Colour brush pens and a water brushto colour the main mage and added the bling all round the edges.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

Happy New Year
And here we are (almost! ) in 2020 and the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges.

I have gone with the optional twist as I usually try to, but it is entirely up to you whether to use it or not.

I found the background in my drawer of bits. I made it by spraying it randomly with Distress Spray them smooshing Distress Oxide inks over it. I then found another piece of card where I had been playing with Brushos and diecut the flower using a Spellbinders die. A simple sentiment finished it off.

I do hope you'll check out the challenge blog and join in with us.

Watercolour "Selfie"

It's the first of the month (in Australia) so time for the last challenge of the year for Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge, and of course the optional twist is Christmas!

I used a new set of stamps from MFT that really appealed to me called Christmas sELFies.
I thought the upside down elf quite cute.

I coloured him with Zig watercolour pens with some added glitter. I rounded the corners to hide a snudge but I could have said for added interest!

I hope to see you joining in after checking out all the inspiration on the challenge blog.

Birthday Cat

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers. It's the start of the month so time for the watercolour challenge.

I have had this cat's face stamp from Visible Image for ages and not used it, so now was the time. I actually made this card for my step-daughter's 40th birthday in October. She's cat mad, although hers are black and white not ginger!

I started off with a Brusho background using brown. The face was stamped in black and clear heat embossed. The eyes and nose were coloured with brushoes as well. I mounted it onto black and then copper mirri card. The inside had the big 40 number rather than the outside. Didn't want to spoil the cat's face!

What animals have the rest of the team used, if any?

Botanical for Happy Little Stampers

It's the start of the month so time for the first of the monthly challenges at Happy Little Stampers.

I always to try to make my DT card with the option if possible and this gave me the opportunity to use a new stamp from Woodware called Flower Garden.

I stamped the image with Gina K amalgam ink which is suitable for both watercolouring and alcohol markers. To colour it I used some watercolour crayons that have been languishing unused in a drawer. No sentiment as I don't know what I'm going to use it for yet, but I think it will make a nice birthday card. I had to add a small die cut dragonfly as I managed to smudge the ink!

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

It's time for the September challenges to start over at Happy Little Stampers and the first off is the Watercolour challenge.

As usual it is Anything Goes  with the option of going Tropical, which I chose to do.

I used a new Uniko background stamp, which I watercoloured with Zig markers. The toucn is from another Uniko set and the sentiment from yet another. The toucan was stamped in black and clear embossed, then coloured in. I checked online for the colours and found that some of them had blue legs!

I look forward to seeing all your tropical cards, and don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's  makes.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

It's time for the first of the HLS August challenges.

I got out my Distress Oxides and a NBUS stamp set from Altenew. I smooshed the colours on a craft mat, then picked them up on some watercolour card. They came out a little bit too light so added some depth with a sponge.

I stamped the jellyfish in black for the outline and two shaded of blue. The bubbles are from another NBUS set from Lawn Fawn. I edged the watercolour panel with a blue pen before mounting on blue card. Please go and check out all the rest of the makes from the DT.

Sun, Sea and Sand.

Here we are with a new challenge at Cardz for Galz. It is my turn to choose the challenge and I have gone with Sun, Sea and Sand. when I picked this I had no idea that Creative Stamping would produce the perfect set of stamps just a few weeks earlier. Needless to say I used them.

I watercoloured the image but made the stupid mistake of doing the background first! So I had to spend some time removing enough colour so that the girl's shoulders were not too blue! I hope you'll find time to join in with us.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

It's time for the first of the July challenges at Happy Little Stampers.

And here is my card.

I sponged Distress Oxide through a stencil and gave it a spritz with water. The cute bee is from a set by Your Next Stamp and he is also watercoloured with Distress Oxides. Since taking the photo I have added some WOS to his wings.

I hope you'll come and join us and check out the rest of the makes from the DT.

Happy Little Stampers - Waterolour

It's time for the first challenge of the month at Happy Little Stampers, and of course it's the watercolour challenge.

The optional twist is easy peasy this month!  Here's my card.

I stamped and embossed the image with white embossing powder, then sprayed with water and added dome Distress inks till I was reasonably happy with the splodges! Then added some splatters in the same colours. The stamp and sentiment are both magazine freebies.

There's lots of fabulous inspiration from the rest of the DT on the challenge blog, so pop over, have a look and join in!

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

It's time for the firat of the Happy Little Stampers Challenges for April. As always it is Anything Goes with an optional twist.

While I was doing some tidying up I found some printed cards for foiling so I dug out my Minc foiling machine which I hadn't used for ages. So it then took me some time to find the instructions and the carrier for it. I used some copper foil, then blended Distress Oxides across the card and sprayed with water to help the colours blend.

Then I used the sameinks and a water brush to colour the image. Here's another phoyo to shoe the shine.

Do check out the rest of the DT's work and hope to see you playing along.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

Welcome to the March Watercolour Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. As always it is Anything Goes with an optional twist of Mist.

I used a stamp that was part of a freebie set with a recent magazine. I stamped the branch in Sepia and watercoloured with Distess Inks. I did the same with the sparrow but it looked dreadful, the markings didn't show and the brown was very orangey. So I stamped another bird in black, which looked much better, and fussy cut it out to perch on the branch. The mists were a couple of sprays, the green was Shimmerz and the pink was a Tattered Angels one.

Looking forward to seeing all your creations.

Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge

So here we are in 2019! I hope you have all had a lovely time over the holidays, but now we are back to business with the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges.

I was rapidly running out of time just before Christmas when I made this card and found texture and watercolour difficult to combine, so went with an embossing folder to add the texture.

As I had also used my last sympathy card in the previous week I decided to make at least one to have in my stash of cards. The stamp I used is an old favourite from Little Claire, and I frequently use it for sympathy cards. I watercoloured it with DI Oxides. I had stamped the image and started colouring it before I remembered that SU cardstock doesn't really like water, but fortunately it didn't bubble like it usually does.

I do hope you will join in with us and look forward to seeing your creations.

Do you ever decide to use something and find it really doesnt turn out how you wanted it to? Well that's what happened with this card. This is about the tenth attempt to use this Dreamweaver stencil on a brusho background. I just could not get a good result with the embossing paste at the botom of the stencil. The top worked fine. I even tried turning it round and going from bottom to top, but it was the same. The background is a
bit spotty as I didn't use watercolour card, but I quite liked the effect of the different colours, just using green.

Be sure to check out all the other fab inspiration on the challenge blog.

Happy Little Stampers Watrcolour Challenge

It's time for the first of the Happy Little Stampers challenges for November. As always it is Anything Goes with an optional twist, and this month it's Get Well.

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.
IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

I wnted to use a digistamp that I got a little while ago from Bugaboo, so printed it out on some Bristol board but the ink smudged as soon as I added the watercolour, the second one I left overnight but it still smudged. Watercolour paper would not go through the printer and my Stampin Up card bubbles with water, then I has a brainwave. If the ink wasn't drying on the Bristol board I could emboss it, and it worked.
I coloured my dragon with Zigs in Welsh dragon colours, cut it out with L'il Inkers stitched square dies and affset it onto a red mat, before putting it on a green plaid background.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your entries!
