My Favourite Colour Combo

This is the new challenge at Cardz for Galz.I actually don't have a favourite colour combo as it all depends on my mood, time of year, what I'm making etc. Eventually I decided to go with a piece of paper that was on my desk and use that as my colour combo, navy and lilac.

The paper was from a kit from Simon says Stamp a couple of years ago, so I went rummaging and found the stamp set that went with it, unused of course! I stamped the flower and leaves and fussy cut them. The flower gem is from my stash and the sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Hope to see you join in with your colour combo.

Pretty Papers.

It's Thursday and time for the next challenge at Cardz for Galz. The title is Pretty Papers and we want to see 2 or more papers on your card.. Now I have to confess I didn't read the challenge properly and made my card with just one pretty paper. It was only when I came to post it that I realised I should have used two.

Anyway a quick search through the rest of the paper pack and I found a complementary one which I was able to add.

Do try and join in with us and visit the challenge blog for more inspiration and there's also a DT call !

Pretty Florals

I am really taken with the Concord and 9th Turnabout stamps. This one comes in two parts, so I have just used the outer stamp for this card, for the new Cardz for Galz challenge. We want to see Flora and/or Fauna on your card.

Obviously I chose Flora! I die cut a circle for the sentiment, which is also part of the stamp set. Colours used are Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Blueberry Bushel and Primrose Petals.

There's lots of fabulous inspiration over on the challenge blog, be sure to check it out.

March Hares!

It's my turn to set the challenge at Cardz for Galz and as its March I chose March Hares (or rabbits if you havent got any hares!) I had it firmly fixed in my mind what I was going to do, but then I saw a stamp of a hare by Pink Ink Designs which I thought was perfect so bought it, not realising how big it was!!

This is a 7" square card! I coloured it in with Zig Brush markers and a water brush. I'll add a sentiment later when I decide who is going to get it.

I'm also sharing this with Daring Cardmakers who's challenge is Mad March hares.

Oh! Pretty Baby

I seem to have got stuck in a rut of making basic shape cards. So I was determined to do something different for the new challenhe at Cardz for Galz, which is Oh Pretty Baby.

I used the presscut dieto cut the card blank and the layers, it makes it so much easier! The small images are from a retired SU set which has gor matchine dies but I fussy cut them as I made the card up at a card club meeting. The letters are some very old Quickutz dies. Ppaer and card are also SU from my stash. Although the challenge is for a girl, I think the card is actually fairly gender free!

Do check out the rest of the DT's makes.

Whatever the Weather

The challenge at Cardz for Galz is weather conditions, which seems very apt at the moment. Weve got rid of the snow and it was followed by strong winds and heavy rain! So I have a rainy card for you.
I stamped and embossed the lady and coloured her dress and umbrella with Copics. The background is a weak solution of Black soot distress ink. The raindrops are stamped in Black soot. Maybe some of you will have a sunny card!

Little Hearts!

I've cut it fine this week to make my DT card for Cardz for Galz. I normally like to have them made a few weeks in front if I can, bur having had some sort of bug, followed by two migraines, then a week full of appointments I've only just made it! And to be honest I had no idea what I was going to do, but inspiration came just as I was going to sleep last night. Fortunately I hadn't forgotten what it was when I woke up!

Earlier in the week I had pulled out a lot of Hearts and Valentine themed embellishments which were on my desk waiting for me to be inspired. The challenge being "Hearts Red, Pink and White". I've followed the sketch at Less is More and I have to say that I'm rather please with my quick five minute card ! I'm also going to enter this into the challenge at Use Your Stuff where they are looking for enamel dots.

Dimensional Greetings

It's time for a new challenge at Cardz for Galz. This time the theme is Dimensional Greetings, so I decided to have a go at an eclipse card. I did make one a long time ago but it was called something else then! Rather than doing a lot of atamping I decided to use this pretty sheet of paper from my stash.

The inside says "Birthday Wishes" I used three layers of card for the letters but think it would have been better with four. It was also not the easiest card to photograph. Can't wait to see what you all make.

New Year, New Stash!

I really didn't think I was going to manage a card for this week's Cardz for Galz challenge but managed to squeeze long enough in my craft room to make a couple of cards.

The challenge is to use something new from your stash and I received the last of my purchases from Happy Little Stamper before the shop closed. The set I have used is called Mix Mash. I stamped various circles in pinks and lilacs with a bit of aquamarine thrown in the mix. A very easy one layer card! Hope to see you joining in with the challenge; if you need more inspiration pop over and see what the rest of team have made.

Purple Christmas

I have another non-traditional colours Christmas card for you today. This time it is for the new challenge at Cardz for Galz. This time I decided to go for purple!

The stamps are some new ones I got from Uniko recently. I stamped in purple and clear embossed, then mounted it onto some purple glitter card that has been in my stash for years. When finished it looked fine but the photo shows a very wonky bottom, which I've since corrected. Lots more inspiration on the challenge blog.

Flutterby!

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is Flutterby, a nice change from Christmas cards!

I already had the butterflies coloured from a crafting evening a while ago, so chose my colours to go with them. After adding them to the card I liberally covered them in Wink of Stella so they have a really nice glimmer inreal life.
Do pop over and see what the rest of the DT have made and hope you'll be able to join in with us.

Pumpkins!

It's that time of year when there's lots of pumpkins in the shops, and that is what Janis has chosen for the new challenge at Cardz for Galz.  As i don't have any stamps of pumpkins I went digi shopping and bought this lovely design from Mo's Digital Pencil.

She also has a very useful practice sheet for colouring them. I coloured them with Copics and then added a few splatters with my spritzer thing that blows ink from the pen. I aslo used up another of my 6 x 6 papers. I wish I could say that the pile was reducing but it isn't.

As always please remember to check out the rest of the DT's makes.

Victorian Christmas and Rudolph day

Helen has chosen this week's challenge of Let's go Digital at Cardz 4 Galz. It gave me the opportunity to use a new CD, Victorian Christmas,  from Joanna Sheen that I got as a free gift recently.
I printed off the sheet of designs and used the largest, which I mounted onto a piece of blue card stock.I had some matching ribbon which I eventually tied into a reasonable looking bow. The branches of the tree were glittered and I added a diecut sprig of holly for interest. As it is Rudolph Day as well I'm entering this into Scrappy Mo's challenge.

Fancy Folds

It's my turn to choose the challenge at Cardz for Galz for the next two weeks, and i have gone for Fancy Folds. I wanted to have a go at making a Twisted Gatefold Card that I had seen on Pinterest.

It used up some of my huge pile of 6x6 papers!  Minimal stamping, some fussy cutting and WOS, completed the card.

It is not very easy to photograph though which is why you see my fingers holding it shut! I hope you'll be able to join us with your fancy folds.

What's new?

At Cardz for Galz we are looking for something new. It can be a new to you technique or new stash. I've used some new stamps from the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit.

I stamped the mermaid then masked her off while I brushed distress oxides across the paper using Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio, then spritzed it with water and blotted it  Then I stamped the seaweed and fishes and removed the ink with some water and blotted again. I coloured everything with Copics. If I made it again I would do it all in watercolour as stmping in Memento for the Copics didn't work very well with the Distress oxides and water!

Remember to visit the rest of the DT to see their fabulous makes.

Thoughts of Fall/Autumn

Thoughts of Fall or Autumn is the challenge at Cardz for Galz. I used a NBUS stamp set from SSS called Apple of my Pie!
The apples are coloured with Promarkers and a lot of the blending pen. I was actually going to watercolour them but stamped them with the wrong ink on the wrong card, and as I'd done a lot of masking, decided it was easier to change the colouring medium. I think I need a bit of practice though with the shading. I do hope you'll be able to join in with us, and do check out the rest of the inspiration from the DT.
I’d like to enter this as well into Addicted to CAS - Apples

3D Background

We have a new challenge at Cardz for Galz. We would like you to make your own background. So should I do random stamping, use a stencil, brushos etc etc.? In the end I went with none of those, I used a 3D embossing folder, which came in one of the monthly kits I get.I had to dig out my Big Shot to use it as I couldn't get it to go through the Grand Caliber, which is my machine of choice.

I sponged Antique Linen over it and the Cosmic Copper to pick out the pattern.  The dragonfly and sentiment are cut out of copper mirri card.

Pop across to the challenge blog and see what my teamies have come up with.

Cardz for Galz

The new challenge at Cardz for Galz is to use dies and or punches. I had just gor hold of the new copy od Diecutting Essentials and decided to have a play with the free die. Somehow it just cried out to me to use it as a silhouette, and I was very tempted to just use it on a plain white card.

But then I found this piece of card that had been sprinkled with brushos and thought it worked quite well behind the bird. The setiment is also diecut and is I think a Joanna Sheen die.

Please go and check out my teamies creations - there are some fab designs.

Cadz for Galz - Sketch

We have a sketch for you this time on Cardz for Galz and here it is:

I have used a new to me, set of stamps Perfectly Succulent from Happy Little Stampers, coloured with Copics and fussy cut.
The paper is an old SU snippet and I have used a cream card blank for a change, and cut into a second one so that my panel matched.  I hope you will be able to play along with us and don't forget to check out all the res of the DTs makes.

For a Little Girl .......

......is the new challenge at Cardz for Galz. Now having only sons and grandsons I find these a definite challenge. I dug out an old Little Claire stamp from when they did their monthly card kits, then went on a hunt for some girly paper from my stash.

I coloured the stamped image with copics and diecut it into an oval. The flowers were a last minute addition as it looked too naked! All the turquoise flowers are the same card but it has a slight sheen to it, so they look a bit odd in the photo.
